Is it realistic to look for a BF whilst still at high school?

I only have 6 weeks left of my exams, and next year is a lighter year and supposedly more about leadership and emotional development.
On the train today, I was reading Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda and I got to the scene where...
Simon & Bram officially entered a relationship and went FB official with it.
I was so touched by that.
That brings things back to me. I want a relationship with someone. I am 16, so do feel of age to get into a relationship, and I feel a tad envious of those around me who are in them. I have created a plan to get myself in better shape and to be more attractive, so I am taking this seriously.

The main issue is this: I will still be in High School for another year and it is Catholic. I don't know any gay people. Is there a way for me to still try and find love or is it too unrealistic?

I think you can get into a relationship if its what you want and are ready. I wouldn't do it just b/c everyone else is. It has to be the right time for you.

I do feel that the timing will be right. It is something that I do want and am willing to work towards. It's not as if I have much of a social life so having a love life will be no problem.

It's likely that there are gay people that go to your school and they just aren't out yet.

Back when I was in high school no. It really had to be kept secret. But now a days, go for it.

Why not? I was even younger when I had my first and he was younger than I was. But I matured early in that aspect and you probably see people like me dating at your age. If you don't fall for people and don't have sexual needs yet, then don't force yourself. Straihts and gays dated alike in high school. Gays just pretended to be friends in front of homophobes... common practice, I guess?

Glad to hear that this sounds totally viable. How did you find a boyfriend at high school as a matter of interest?

Do you think they ever will be out by the time I leave? If I had friends, more people would probably know.

I certainly am grateful to be in this generation where it is more accepted. Fingers crossed that I will be successful in finding a BF.

I'm a girl... (down there, in the head - not neccesarily)
But I have a gay guy friend who had a boyfriend in high school too and he said something about dating apps. I guess going to LGBT meetups and hanging out with gay people helps. I live nowhere homophobic so I plain and simple hit on girls and everypne knows I'm bi. Lately, I almost got a date with a lesbian friend of my friend who I don't know... but she's not my typemfrom the description so I didn't ask her out. So... telling trusted friends can help, they will get you a date if they get to know someone else gay. Or at least will inform you. I think gay dating in high school is the same as later. My friend didn't have a boyfriend in his own school. The new boyfriend, he got to know him in the gay club. But clubs are 18+. I don't know about gay clubs, but what happens in clubs frequently gets quite 18+, you have to be ready for it.

I hope you do. Just never stop trying. They say there is someone for everyone and I am still searching for the right person.

It is looking like there is more hope than expected. The question would now be how would I get one?

No one is out, to my knowledge. Hopefully some will come out by the time that I leave.

You might want to check out what your school policy because it is a Catholic school. It may be people aren't out because they would get expelled.

A couple of teachers know that I am gay and I haven't been expelled.

I’m pretty sure that would be illegal in Scotland.

I’d honestly be pretty shocked if it wasnt.

In the U.S. it's not illegal for private schools (at least in some states).

Glad to know Scotland is a much nicer place than some parts of the U.S.
And that his school doesn't seem to have an issue with him.

It doesn't happen in the UK, luckily. The school doesn't seem to have an issue with my sexuality, but acting on it is another thing, and who's to say that everyone will be accepting? Remember that the RC Church won't allow gays to get married and don't hold us very highly.
