Will anybody else be protesting Donald Trump when he visits the UK "later this year" (no set date)? I will be attending.

I heard that they are keeping the date secret until the last few days before (very unusual) but I expect there will be a leak as quite a lot of people 'in the know' are organising a massive protest under the banner of The Stop Trump Coalition.

Apparently they are expecting it to be one of the biggest protests in UK history. Some say it could be as big as the Iraq War protest (3 million people in London) but, personally, I doubt it.

Not me. I think such protests rarely if ever accomplish anything positive. And in this case I think it will undermine Britain. Jeering protesters - and any accompanying anarchic window smashings by crazed militant fringe elements and alcohol fuelled loonies - will just turn Trump against Britain. He might be serving another term after this one. On top of that I don't like crowds and I don't like London.

Fun fact: In large parts of Britain “trump” means “fart”.

Cant wait to welcome President Fart.

They're not massaging his over inflated ego - that's true, but I see no evidence that they are against him. There's actually a lot more bias against our own politicians. It's quite obvious that President Trump has a persecution complex (amongst other issues).

If I was him I'd not come here. He doesn't like travelling much anyway does he? He seems not to like to travel for official things anyway. British protesters can be so vile - why is this?

    Perfect. So eloquent and simple.

You know johndeer3020. My mom was a farm kid. Simple and wise. She used to tell me stories about snake oil salesmen coming to town and swindling people. Trump is a snake oil salesman.

And the others aren't snake oil salesmen?! Haven't you worked out yet that the choice at democratic elections is between sellers of different blends of snake oils? You guys protest about one snake oil salesman and don't see the snake oil that you eagerly consume from the other guy.

I'd sure be there if I could. Unfortunately stuck in the US, and the Bible Belt at that.

Probably best for the world if the US strand of lunacy stays under quarantine. Spent my whole life working up to being honest, and when I finally made it there... you know the drill. This happened. It's scared me, and I don't feel safe anymore.

Sometimes cowards survive, but I wish I could stand up to it. It's at least a bit reassuring that not everyone has bought into it and they're fighting against the backwards current.

Richard, some of us across the pond are such that we try to pick the best person and vote for such person. Something that was very difficult this past election cycle. Tradition suggests that the Democratic Party is more in touch with the common person, although some elements, in my opinion are becoming too liberal. Trump simply stirred up ideas in rural and older Americans of times of greatness when they were kids and young adults after WWII when we were helping to rebuild the world and everything was wonderful, economic wise. My grandfather bought a farm in 1941 for 10000.00, a very lot of money at the time and had it paid for in four years.
When this president enacts his tariffs, builds his wall, that we can't afford, Mexico starts buying their corn from Brazil and Argentina, China buys their pork and fruit from Europe and South America, land prices and rents and prices fall here maybe the voters will elect someone with some stability. We need a leader that tries to remember all of us, not just the rich white man.
Hell it's a global world, I can buy Kerry butter from Ireland in a local grocery in Minnesota.
    Just my opinion on things.
    Dean

No bill has been presented to Parliament so it's hard to accurately comment. However, the recommendations proposed by the Cabinet Office Committee on Standards in Public Life and endorsed by the Government would only create a new offence for intimidation against electoral candidates, not for all protesting.

I'd avoid the Mirror if you want news worthy of the name.

I think it was unwise to invite Trump to the UK for a state visit. Reducing its profile was a good idea. But the world does need to continue interacting with the United States and protesters should be aware that if the protests are to have any impact they need to be targeted against particular issues (there are many to protest, to be fair), not against the holding of meetings between UK officials and Trump.

Johndeere, I wasn't refering to the Democrats as being "Marxist Leninist snake oil blend number 1". I was refering to Lenin himself having put forward "Peace, land, bread" when what he really intended was a Bolshevik Dictatorship. This was playfully in reference to Blast's picture being of Lenin.
