I'm so tired of being alone that I'm thinking of creating at kind of tulpa or imaginary friend to talk to. Has anyone else came to this point before? It's like Wilson in the movie Castaway. Did anyone else have imaginary friends when they were younger? I don't know what to do anymore.

I didn’t have imaginary friends when I was a kid.
After reading books about neuroscience and physiology, I named my unconscious mind Jerome Gossett. I chose this name because it was randomly created when I played Sims 4, and I found it beautiful. Now I feel like I’m talking to him when I write my diary. Sometimes I imagine we’re holding hands when I walk alone. He becomes my imaginary boyfriend at that moment. Haha...

That sounds great. It's good to have your own special boyfriend.

I had imaginary siblings when I was like 6 or 7 years old...I grew up as an only child. I didn’t feel lonely though...I pretended to have siblings to fit in with other kids because it seemed that everyone had at least one sibling. So I guess in my case, they weren’t really imaginary siblings in the sense that I pretended to communicate with them or spend time with them. I just used to pretend to have siblings by telling other people that I had siblings lol. That stopped in 2nd grade when my teacher, in front of the whole class, said to me, “But you don’t really have siblings, do you.” It hurt me a little bit.

I have an imaginary life in my head. With imaginary friends and current and past girlfriends. I don't think I could bring my imaginary friends in to my real life I'd really worry I was going crazy then. I talk to my dog. She doesn't answer back, she won't tell anyone what I say and she forgives anything instantly. But she's a living breathing creature who acts like she understands and is always willing to keep me company and always wants to be close to me.

That's nice. My dog isn't really friendly but she's small enough not to cause too much damage.

I'm so lonely I often talk to myself while I'm doing things,I know it's weird but sometimes it helps me remember things and keep things in order in my brain. I have always had a very active imagination all throughout my childhood and when I was bored I would just imagine things to make reality seem less dull. I'm also a furry so I'll imagine talking to my character or picturing his design (I don't have any physical reference for him yet so I just keep it in my head), really imagination and imaginary entities are the things that keep me sane most of the time because without them I'd be so empty and alone. Another thing I'll do while working on my car or hobbies and projects is listen to comedy radio stations or podcasts on music streamers, it helps to listen to somebody talk and it's hard to get angry (because nothing goes as planned XP ) when somebody is making you laugh. I also seem to be like a "cat whisperer" because all cats love me for some reason but I have a cat that will be there for me when I get home from work and she will be sitting in front of the garage where I always park and greet me and meow like crazy until I pet her, It's nice to know that somebody's happy to see me even when my family don't really care.

I just noticed our moods are the same. I used to draw quite a bit when I was bored and lonely. Still am. It's nice to meet a furry. I would like to be a furry as well however the closest convention is too far a drive for it to be worth going. I'll just sit there and watch people anyway with nobody to go with. I love the artwork though. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't so much have an imaginary friend. I pretended that specific, real people were my friends, usually girls, and I carried on conversations with them by myself, trying my best to replicate their voice to represent them.

I did have an “imaginary friend” as a kid, but the quotes are there fore a reason. My “imaginary friend” was actually one of my actual friends that got murdered... i had a great childhood!

I never had a human imaginary friend, but a stuffed animal alligator was pretty much my only friend for a large chunk of time.

Yes, it's exactly as strange as it sounds.

All friends are imaginary really. Friendship is an illusion.
