I think the scruffy oiks in my area should stick to skating in their designated skating parks and not do it in the town center where the rest of us just want to walk.

As long as they are being considerate in shared areas I find it ok. If a frail person is walking by then they should come to a halt. Most of the skater boys and girls these days are very considerate of other people I find.

Not my thing but I do admire the amount of dedication it takes to get good at it.

Some of the tricks are amazing but I’ve never really cared for the sport.

Skate culture and the people involved are not my cup of tea.
Most still think helmets are lame and choose “looking cool” over safety. Which in my mind is super immature cringe behavior.

I got a skateboard, when I was maybe 9 or 10, for Christmas. The most action it saw was me lying down on it as I paddled with my hands down the sidewalk.
I guess I always know that attempting anymore would just end badly.

I would want to try it  In a more advanced way than rolling on the sidewalk, ofc. Trying some tricks in a skate park.

I just knew there was no way in hell I could ride it right and not end up eating pavement. I had enough mishaps on my bicycle.

I was an odd kid. I had exploratory surgery on my kidneys when I was 6. For some reason I thought the doctors shrank themselves and walked up my urethra. I was worried and asked my mom what would happen if one of the doctors got lost and couldn't find their way back out.

I admire people who are good at it, as personally, I'm more likely to develop a theory of everything than be good at that.

I have this love/hate relationship with skateboarding. I was one of the "original" boarders. Around 12 years old, I made my own skate. I took the wheels off of my rollers skates and put them on a piece of plywood! Those wheels were steel so they threw sparks a lot when we skated on cement. We would go out at night, find a very dark spot with sidewalks and skate there. There were a lot of sparks when you did a "slide" with your skate...something you cant' do with the wheels that are used today. Of course, we crashed a lot...yeah...a lot! That was the beginning of back problems that eventually led to seven spinal surgeries. But I still miss my board.

I’m actually pretty decent with longboards.

That's awesome! (Not the back problems of course). Sneaking out to skateboard with wheels that send sparks flying. Sounds so fun.

I don't mind them as long as they don't disturb anyone or get seriously hurt.
