This seems like it may be better as a anonymous topic, but I wanted to specifically ask the later in life ladies about this. I saw some comments here and there and thought others might be willing to share their thoughts.

I avoided looking at erotica and porn most of my life, and only recently looked at a little bit of live action lesbian porn. While it was really arousing for my sexually fustrated self, there was a lot I didn't like about it or just didn't get. It left me wondering "why". Is this what women like or is it appealing to a male audience? One of the biggest things that bug me was the lack of pubic hair. Like... what's wrong with hair? I think hair is lovely.

So I guess my question to you ladies is do you like lesbian porn, or do you find in unappealing, or both? Feel free to explain why.

I'm not one of the ladies but I hope you won't mind me answering. what it sounds like you've been watching is often called "girl-girl". It is really targeted towards straight male fantasy.

In some ways I find it kinda like gay male porn where one or both participants is "gay for pay". In both, you have people who are not really into it...or at least not into it the way that someone who was gay would be into it. Hot bodies are nice and all but it's just not the same as people gettin nas-tay, I think.

There is lesbian produced, directed and acted porn out there and I think you would find it a lot more to your taste. Unfortunately it is a bit harder to find as the bulk of the market is towards straight men but it does exist.

I don't mind at all, thank you for the reply!

I've heard that straight women watch a lot of lesbian porn because it was different than straight porn, so I wasn't sure who the target audience was. It's a bit of a relief to know that particular porn wasn't likely made to appeal to women. I felt out of place for not completely liking it. Though it's disheartening to hear there isn't much out there for a lesbian and bi women.

Hey, it's totally for the male fantasy so you are definitely not alone in not liking it.

Unfortunately it is true that it's harder to find actual gay and lesbian porn, it does exist, so I hope you aren't too disheartened. It'll take a bit more work to find it, and you might have to sift through some garbage but I think there's a good bit out there. It's a matter of knowing how to look for it, and once you find it, you'll find it in abundance

@Cinnamon Bunny -no real awkward questions here on EC---topics span the gamut that's for sure!

But you are correct, the usual run-of-the-mill lesbian porn is geared towards men. (And has anyone else noticed the ever present giggling through the whole thing? These 'porn stars' are ALWAYS giggling at each other! Just weird. No one giggles THAT MUCH during a sexual encounter!)

Now, re your question about shaving vs. not shaving. I agree with you, I find the unshaved look sexy. Overshare alert: Hmmm, without getting too detailed into all this I will say I have gone the shaved and unshaved route myself. And I would rather keep things natural. Trimmed and 'orderly' (haha!) looking, but natural.

So, here is my take on why gay girls don't love lesbian porn. It's because women are more emotional creatures. We want more than just images. To be honest, I'm not above looking at things once in a while. It can be hot, especially if you really don't have much experience and are just coming out. It's more of a research project then.. BUT, it's fake. No feelings involved.

This, exactly. I want the emotional connection, not just the sex. I don't watch porn (I've thought about it), but I'll read erotica, as long as there's an actual story. The funny thing is, I'll read lesbian erotica and gay erotica - and I would probably watch lesbian and gay porn, but I have honestly zero interest in hetero erotica or porn.

LOL, glad it's not just me doing that "research".

But I do agree, that without any emotional content, it's just not that exciting. I'd rather watch the movie Carol because of how expertly they built up to the passion... all in subtle and very emotional ways. That level of movie does a lot more for me than a porn clip.

I like the "amateur" kind. Meaning, not staged. Just real couples filming their stuff. The quality is shitty but at least its real people doing real stuff that I can learn from LOL

I researched the hell out of Carol. Now it seems to hard to watch it. Occasionally the Playboy channel has okay research programming.

I have attempted to do some extensive research as well and I agree with the others that you really have to dig to find something that is enjoyable. I agree with @driedroses that as odd as it sounds, I almost find reading the material more enjoyable than watching it. I think a lot of that is because I specifically search out things that have been written by lesbians for lesbians, not straight men with fantasies. The material feels more honest and sensual in a way that the visual material never does.

I think that's about as well as I can put it without giving the EC staff too much worry over.

Harper Bliss has a nice book series called "Pink Bean" about a coffee shop run by lesbians.

@NeonSocks i think you are safe with your terminology of "the material".

I love Carol! I became a tad, just a wee bit, obsessed with the idea that cate blanchett and Rooney Mara fell in love during the movie. It was such a lovely movie.

Honestly I am such a, how can I say this, eager student these days, it takes very little to provide me with a good amount of study material.

Carol is a beautiful movie, however, I'm into exotic brunettes so the actresses did nothing for me (so sad)

I'm learning all I can about pretty lady relationships from Supergirl & Wynonna Earp. The brunettes in both wlw couples in those shows are PERFECT

Am I the only one that hasn't seen Carol yet? I feel like I need to hurry up and fix this problem.
