Hi! I don't mean to sound ignorant but lately I've heard the word ''queer'' used a lot more and I don't understand what it means, I tried googling it but was confused by what I found. I really love learning new things about myself and the LGBT+ community, could anyone explain it to me simply please? <3
Same here, I'm confused by the results as well, and different people use it in different light. Some make it sound like an umbrella term, some make it sound like another label like lesbian or gay, etc. I know how it used to be used, but I'm sure you're talking about how it's used nowadays.
Hi! That's exactly what I mean thanks for helping clarify my question, I didn't know how to say it but you worded it pretty perfectly <3
I believe it to be an umbrella term for anyone who identifies and participates outside the norms of heterosexuality.
I'm not sure if there's an actual official meaning but I use it as a way to say 'not straight'. You're right, it's kind of an umberella term, easy to use if you're talkimg about a whole group of people with different orientations other than heterosexual. think it's also often used by people like me who are not comfortable with either bi/pan or gay. I'm not completely sure of a label yet and for now queer feels right to me. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is my interpretation
Means not heterosexual, but not sure where on the spectrum you are. Also often used by non-binary people for whom identifying as gay straight etc doesn't quite work. Hope I helped!
