Heya! Not sure if this is right place, move if isn't.

So basically I've had a thread on opinion of make up to see what you guys/gals think of makeup before I start asking my mum to wear it ((http://emptyclosets.com/forum/chit-chat/234349-opinion-makeup-males.html))

I was about to ask her! I was like 'sooo umm...' then I just said I'll go up stairs. I'm a wimp basically.

    Any tips/thoughts will be appreciated!

    Thanks
    ~Jay

I thought about sending her a text while I'm at school (at lunch)

    Thoughts?

    Hey Jay,

You could, of course, send her a text while you are at school, but won't you be anxious until she responds or until you get to see her when you get home?

You are Out to her right? Why do you think that discussing the use of makeup with your Mom is a harder deal for you than Coming Out?

Well I didn't come out my brother told her (http://emptyclosets.com/forum/coming-out-advice/233267-mum-found-out.html)

I'm just scared what she will think. I'm at school at the moment. I think I will text her tomorrow.

Why am I scared to tell her??? Omg!!!!

Oh, sorry, Jay. I remember that you posted that.

So, do you think you're scared because you are concerned about your mom's reaction?

When you were outed to your mom, she told you she would love you no matter what. I think you should take her at her word and that she will still love you after telling her you want to wear makeup. She might not approve, but she will still love you.

I say just do it , no reason to beat around the bush she has accepted your sexuality and this really is nothing big in my view as a dad .

    Hey Jay,

You sounded really passionate about wanting to try wearing makeup in your other thread. Parents often appreciate it when their child is truly interested in something and excited by it. If you can express some of that interest and maybe show how you've been thinking this through, it might help her understand that this isn't some whim of yours.

But, here's a question. At what age did your mom let your sister start experimenting with makeup? If she was older than you are now, it's not unreasonable for her to keep the same policy in place for you...

    Just a couple of thoughts.

    Yeah, I guess so.

    How would I express interest?

Oh wow. I have no idea when my sister starting wearing markup! I'm pretty sure she has been wearing makeup for a while!

    Thanks for the thoughts!

Ok! I think I'm going to tell her about it on Monday (After the weekend Because I'm going to my
    Dads)

Yeah I would only where it at home anyway at first. Probably. She probably would think that.

Thanks for all your help! And I'll keep you updated if I do it!

You are doing it right it seems , slowly and then wear it as you please , it is something at least down here in Miami that is nothing so shocking, many guys I see out wear makeup and nobody really makes snide comments it is part of society down here

    Just a thought -

Maybe you could enlist her help. Do you think your mom would feel better about it if she could help you with the makeup?

I'd suggest making her feel involved. Ask her if she can teach u some techniques.
