*raises hand* I'm an anime fan. Not an Otaku myself, but I tend to prefer anime series over regular t.v. given that the stories are usually much better.

I recently finished Cowboy Bebop which was a pretty awesome series ^w^

Awesome, now how the hell do you deal with being called weaboo for correcting someone about something they get wrong about what this stuff is and basically what the medium is like?

Seriously, after hearing Japanese people on YouTube get called this garbage for explaining what anime is and isn't to a bunch of dumb Americans and people like me doing the same to those same morons. Well, I'm sorta annoyed..

Oh hellz to the hell yeahz! I've loved anime since I was a kid. Major long time favorites for me include Yu-Gi-Oh (including most spin offs, most favorite so far is GX), Sailor Moon and it's remake (Sailor Moon:Crystal), Kaleido Star has special meaning for me. Recent favorites are Shakugan no Shana and Owari no Seraph.

No I haven't seen 50+ animus but I think I am still qualified to be an anime fan because I've loved anime most of my life and there shouldn't be a label of whether or not you're a "only a true anime fan if you've seen 50+ anime". Sorry that's impossible.

Sorry for rambling. That's just the kind of person I am.

Not starting anything but... you do know the word animu is a word to offend Otaku right are you mocking me?

ANIMU - The word "animu" means "anime", but it is used in a disparaging or self-deprecating way. It's used as an in-joke, in reference to how anime otaku culture is not accepted by everyone, and how anime can consume so much time, energy, money.

The self-deprecating use of this word is similar to how "shit" and "crap" are used - for example, "I'll go back to watching my shit on YouTube", "I just bought a ton of crap for my computer", etc.

I don't view myself as an anime otaku but I've watched a fair bit of anime, I tend to focus more on games though. I more or less don't even bother correcting people when it comes to anything Japanese unless it seems really obvious they're interested in Japanese culture as a whole and are trying to learn it, otherwise I normally ignore it and just keep going even if it ends up falling under a pet peeve of mine.

    Hai. Anime is fabulous.

Currently I'm re-watching both Your Lie In April and Free! Iwatobi Swim Club. I'm starting Haikyuu.

I'm not hardcore enough to be considered an otaku though, I don't think. But I do take a deep interest in Japanese culture as a whole.

Simple solution to that problem: fuck 'em. They are simply beneath my notice.

I was really into anime like ten years ago, but then more or less completely stopped watching it for years, but I've had a relapse lately and have started watching a lot of anime again.

I really like all kind of anime and manga. Endless types (like One Piece), romance, comedy, action and so on.
And about the weeaboo thing: I honestly don't care about the word. I have a few friends who call me weeb in friendly meant way.
And I often call anime "animu" didn't know, there were fans, who hate the word.

Heyooo. Anime's a good time. I tend to watch the shorter ones (i have a short attention span '-'), but i've seen a couple of long ones too since my siblings love their long-ass shounen and i think they're pretty cool.

On the "weeaboo" thang: Me and my buds always use terms like "weeb" and "animu" among our group but we're also the sarcastically self-deprecating variety of nerds who just spout nonsense and don't really care, i can see how it would be offensive tho since they were probably invented for soft mockery. But anything can be an insult or a compliment or just a word, it just depends on how it's used, right?
