Well I have a fetish for combat boots, I'll buy every pair of sevens I find and then put several different colored shoestrings in them, some spikes, and etc. I don't look like someone who would need such high topped boots because they honestly don't see mud at all, but I love them!

Well a gay friend told me that military boots were a no to gay men, is this so?

    That's his opinion .

You can wear whatever the heck you want if it makes you feel good and attractive . I find combat boots can be hot as heck on a big tall guy, as it gives off a dominant vibe. Coloured shoelaces wouldn't really dim that feeling, just shows that he is funny as well .

If you don't want to come across as dominant, then yeah, I can see how that would send some mixed messages. But still if it makes you feel good you will make it work the way you want to, have faith .

Also, hard to dance in combat boots, they kinda lock in your ankles

As a person who wear boots 24/7 every season, I would say go for it! No one can go wrong with a pair of boots.

Absolutely. That's what I wear in the winter, especially, but I'll wear them whenever if I feel like it. I want to get a pair of yellow laces for mine, but it's hard finding them long enough.

No, you're only allowed to wear high fashion like Armani or you must hand over your gay card!!1!

Although, seriously, you sound creative and I think you should show that off

Wear whatever the hell you want as long as it's legal

Hell, I'm a sadist and I'm more obsessed with being cute than intimidating

Well, shit, if that's a requirement I definitely have to hand mine over because I wouldn't know high fashion if it bit me in the ass. :roflmao:

I would say no. I feel combat boots should be reserved for a) military related activities or, b) activities that are equivalent in strenuousness to "military related activities" performed outdoors. I believe that those who use combat boots outside of these parameters are taking a utilitarian item with a narrow "official" use and expanding its uses for "fashion" purposes; that such people want to make a loud fashion statement by their footwear choice and/or cling to the cachet that combat boots have (e.g. military/manly) in order to compensate for some self-perceived deficiency or cling to an ideal; or, they are utilitarian and you got them on sale at a military surplus and it was cheaper than actual work boots.

Interestingly, I have several pairs of cowboy boots and they could be seen as making a fashion statement or I want to grasp on to some cachet that they have (e.g. rugged, manly, western, outdoorsy), but cowboy boots also have the added distinction of being civilian wear that is considered a "normal" and everyday item in even the urban regions of the south/southwest US.

That said, studded combat boots with weird colored laces do scream punk-ish, anti-establishment to me and that's a definite no-no (for me) because it is too "high fashion"/avant garde.

All the more reason to wear them. In this age in America, outwardly anti-establishment is the way to go.

Shhhh combat boots are the best. Wish I had a pair, but I'm too chicken to change my style so much. (I'd also like to wear choker necklaces and cut my hair *sigh*) They also look great on almost everyone (imo a person gets 20% hotter if they're wearing combat boots)

I have a pair of combat boots that I had to get for a hip hop group. I occasionally wear them from time to time. Although now the heels are coming off and I have hot glued them plus taped them so many times. I may have to get a new pair soon. If I was you I'd wear them as they do look good in a variety of outfits. I also feel like wearing combat boots gives off the vibe that you don't care what others think, and I do like giving off that vibe sometimes so that's why I like having a pair.

    FYI Goldangel,

Instead of buying a new pair of combat boots, it is usually much cheaper to get your current ones resoled. Those of us who wear combat boots regularly hate to have to break in a new pair, but soles do wear out. So the best solution is usually to simply have our broken-in combat boots resoled regularly until/unless the pair of boots wears out.

    Just a thought.

Wear those boots. They make me think of my dad, he has many pairs in varying shades of black and green. I think they're pretty cool.
