Yeah, I made a ridiculously long playlist about being trans, instead of doing homework one night. I just thought I'd share with you ladies and gentlemen. Ed Sheeran Never Too Late - Three Days Grace Fallen - Volbeat My Body - Young the Giant Wake Me Up - Avicii Spirits - The Strumbellas The Clincher - Chevelle In My Place - Coldplay Emotional Drought - Chevelle(They're my favorite band, so they're in here a lot!) Adam Gontier Remember Everything - Five Finger Death Punch(probably the best song in this list) Pinch Me - Barenaked Ladies Unsteady - X Ambassadors Firework - Katy Perry Don't Speak - No Doubt Woman Woman - AWOLNATION(not really sure why, but the chorus makes me feel like a real woman I guess?) Jumper - Third Eye Blind Swallow The Knife - Story of the Year Whisper -Evanessence Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve Dirty Little Secret -The All-American Rejects Drones - Rise Against First - Cold War Kids Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters It Ends Tonight - The All-American Rejects Times like These - Foo Fighters Some Nights - Fun. Some are depressing, some motivational, about being yourself, some probably don't fit, some about depression, and just having dangerous thoughts in your head, about change, fear(The Clincher). There's a few other songs I'm thinking of adding. But if nothing else it's a neat playlist. lol ---------- Post added 12th Dec 2016 at 06:05 PM ---------- Almost forgot, more! Fall to Pieces - Velvet Revolver Through Glass - Stone Sour Somewhere Only We Know - Keane I Can't Breathe - Stitched Up Heart I Dare You to Move - Switchfoot Habits(Stay High) - Tove Lo Send The Pain Below - Chevelle Demons - Imagine Dragons State of Grace - Taylor Swift Falls Apart - Sugar Ray Bother - Stone Sour Event Horizon - Stitched Up Heart Not Gonna Die - Skillet Zzyzx Rd. - Stone Sour Finally Free - Stitched Up Heart Die Trying - Art of Dying Hemorrhage(In My Hands) - Fuel Get Thru This - Art of Dying These are in the order they are when I shuffle the playlist on my iPod(yes, I still use an iPod).
I'd venture to say, most all of these were not written specifically with trans people and experiences behind being trans in mind. I actually have a copy of New Wave somewhere, but I haven't listened to any of their new stuff since they dropped off the face of the earth and Mark became Laura. Good suggestion though. I like it. I'll add some of these to my list, if I like the suggestion and can easily find it. Some I'm adding: The Light - Disturbed Safest Place - Echosmith Make It Stop(September's Children) - Rise Against(as soon as I put the CD on my computer. lol)
I love this idea, I need to start building a playlist for genderqueer/ftm songs. I don't recognise a lot on your list (maybe I'm too old!) but I suppose many can speak to the trans experience in general?
You should look them up!(Keep in mind though, a lot of them are hard rock/metal songs. I was trying to put together songs that I feel speak to the trans experience in general. So I think these could work regardless of where you fit. For instance "Remember Everything" is a song about not seeing eye to eye with your family, and that causing tension. The lead singer's mother still doesn't approve of him having a career in a heavy metal band. "The Clincher" was written about claustrophobia, and describes a general experience with paralyzing fear. Corey Taylor on "Snuff:" "This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory"(Being let down by people we thought had our backs, sound familiar. ) Adam Gontier on "Never Too Late:" "This song is about being in a very dark place, but being able to see a way out." "Feeling like you don't really belong here anymore, and it's about wanting to sort of end everything. But really, this song is about not giving up at all." My signature is actually part of the lyrics to "Second Chance."
Thanks! I'm going to spend some time on Spotify checking out these songs, and it will probably inspire more for my own list. I'll post some here if I find anything interesting.
I think you may find you like some of them. And post away. Adding to the list: Radioactive - Imagine Dragons (it's about depression) The Sound of Silence - Disturbed
I am honestly surprised "It's my life" by Bon Jovi isn't in the list somewhere. ---------- Post added 12th Dec 2016 at 11:28 PM ---------- I really feel the lyric "It's my life! and it's now or never" right now applies to taking "the plunge" with starting therapy on Thursday.
The lyrics are just so perfect for not just us, but in a way for anyone who is LGBT+ or otherwise been told they aren't allowed to be themselves because it's not "normal"
Illusion - VNV Nation Lost in my Denial - Entwine Wish I Wasn't Born Today - Korn For My Demons - Katatonia Teen Idle - Marina and the Diamonds Dark Cell - Deadlock Black Me Out - Against Me! (Pretty much the entire TDB album) In This River - Black Label Society Dark Horse - Kidneythieves Underdog - Lacuna Coil Bruises - Love and Death The Abandoning - Love and Death In My Time of Need - Opeth Face the Truth - Unsun That's some that I can think of from the top of my head.
Considering I saw your bi I got u for another D Swing Both Ways- Robbie Williams ft Rufus Wainwright Classic ---------- Post added 13th Dec 2016 at 04:03 PM ---------- WAAAAAA ;-; no not da D.. not like this.. >.< dident mean that you see... : D : D ;-;
That's about orientation, not about trans experiences. I'm actually not even certain I'm bi anymore, I'm kinda leaning towards lesbian. ---------- Post added 13th Dec 2016 at 04:15 PM ---------- Rephrase: I appreciate the suggestion, but I'd like to keep orientation out of this.
