What songs mean a lot to you? Any particular reason? Here are a few of mine.

Home by Dougie Maclean- I found a home away from my parents house. I do not get along with them they are transphobic as hell. The lyrics about losing dignity hit me as well because I go to a Catholic university because when I was choosing a college I picked it because I was trying to cure myself with religion. I lost all my dignity back then. I did some bad things to people in my attempts to hide behind religion. I'm now out trans man who is agnostic but leads towards atheism most days.

You wouldn't expect and Dark Lord sleeping on my sofa both by The Blibbering Humdingers
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and these songs can make me laugh when I need it.

You where cool The Mountain Goats- This again goes back to my regret of how I was a shit person to people in high school.

Ok now a list of few more that I like alot but dont really have reasons.
Brothers in arms by Celtic Thunder
    Strange by Tokyo Hotel
Prayer of the refugee by Rise Against
The last goodbye by Peter Hollens
    Icarus by Bastille
Daniel in the den by Bastille
    Stressed out by 21 Pilots
Guns for hands by 21 pilots

    Creep - Radiohead
John My Beloved - Sufjan Stevens
Rush Of Blood To The Head - Coldplay
    The Scientist - Coldplay
I'm Still Here (Jim's Theme) - John Raznik
    Body - Mother Mother
    Ghosting - Mother Mother
    Borders - AMBER
I Don't Know My Name - Grace VanderWaal
An Ideal Of Hope - Hand Zimmer
    So Far - Olafur Arnalds
    A Stutter - Olafur Arnalds

Most of the songs which resonate with me are related to feelings of alienation. Some also have strong themes tied into my identity.

    Bon Iver - Woods
It makes me feel a certain way... I can't explain it.

    Prince - Purple rain
Makes me cry, I don't know why though

    Disclosure - Latch
    Makes me long for love.

There are others but they don't resonate as much within me as these three do.

    Oh I also forgot:

Kendrick Lamar - We gon' be alright
Makes me feel as if I'll get through whatever problems I'm facing, that I'll finally be alright someday.

Grandmaster Flash & The furious five - The message
Makes me grateful of the life I have, that I'm not in poverty or on the streets.

Honestly, I get into it when I listen to almost any Avenged Sevenfold song... Sort of a hardcore rock/metal band... idk for sure as i dont fully know genres lol... but the group has an incredibly versatile style...

Just listen to Dear God, and then God Hates Us.. I think that illustrates the versatility...

Just to list a few other great ones:
    Buried Alive
    Nightmare
    Clairvoyant Disease
A Little Piece of Heaven (a little disturbing for some)
    Danger Line
Scream (this one is pretty epic, because when you listen, you cant tell if its about sex or murder...)

But that is a band that I think is important to me, as for just songs, these 2 Difficult and Never Over both by Eminem (Bad Guy is great too, not necessarily "important" to me)

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
In general I like many of her songs, but I have an emotional tie to this one in particular. I guess it stems from my existential thoughts, and this song being able to deliver some of the answers. It's actually one of the best songs I've ever heard.
    God, I really idolize her.

Anybody know any songs about bisexuality that aren't about cheating? Or any songs about being non-binary? Love to hear them.

Why Don't You Smile Now? by Spiritualized has a lot of meaning to me and my family.
Photographing Rain and 4 Men by Kitchens of Distinction are my favourite LGBT related songs.

And of course, Rule Britannia, as you can see in my signature.

The Run And Go, and Fake You Out by Twenty One Pilots. I really relate to these songs with my anxiety and depression.
Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkle. How I deal with things is usually listening to music, and when my grandfather died when I was six, the only thing I had access to all the time that played music was this little music box bear that played Scarborough Fair. I'd listen to that thing constantly because it calmed me down and made me happy. It's still my all-time favorite song because of this.

    Cadillac Song - Ariana Grande

When I was in 8th grade, this guy from Germany came to my middle school. He was originally supposed to be there for 6 weeks but somehow it was shortened to 4 weeks. Anyways, I started getting to know him, and of course, I started crushing on him. He had a girlfriend back home. Then on one Friday, while walking him home, I hugged him. He actually reciprocated. Then a couple of days before he left, I cried because he was leaving and I couldn't do anything. Onto the last day, I was sad and heartbroken on his last day of being here. Then when school ended, I thought he had already went home. I was walking to the library all sad. It was fate or a miracle, but I saw him walking in the opposite direction. He was looking for a place that sold cards. He couldn't find any so he was walking back to his place. We walked together. Then when we reached his place, I told him that I was gonna miss him. We then hugged one last time and he went inside his house. That was the last time I saw him. Throughout that day and the day after, I was heartbroken. So I listened to this song and the lyrics reminded me of him. They still do. I still cherish the moments we had together.
