    ...by my local gym.

Apparently this website contains "adult or pornographic material" and I should "speak to the onsite administrator to get this website unblocked."

I remember seeing somewhere that someone who was at school tried logging onto here but there school had blocked it off.

I think it used to be banned at my local library at one point, but not anymore, since I'm using it from the library now.

Most schools will block it because you really shouldn't be using their network for your networking, other than that I'd just talk to the admin, unless they're like really homophobic then I don't see why they wouldn't unblock a forum.. a forum with an attempted PG-13 stance.

That sounds like one of the possible good reasons, that the use of the network for unofficial purposes unrelated to assignments, etc., is prohibited.

To block EC, because it contains "pornographic" material would be no surprise. Usually, this is due to automated filtering (certain words appear on the site that are in the system dictionary), so it wouldn't be a concern, unless the admin refused to unblock it. EC is a wonderful resource for youth. Considering the hysteria around sex and teens in the US, it amazes me that such a wonderful resource even exists. EC would be a wonderful adjunct to any sex education program, in any school in the country. I know, I should dream on, but that's just my opinion. If a school persisted in calling EC "pornographic," you'd know you just met the crazies.

Now, in the past I worked for a public agency, that used filtering software. One day, for a retirement party, I was assigned to order pizza for the crowd. One of the managers suggested a local pizzeria, called "Hot Mama's Pizza." As you can imagine, the company IT system wasn't going to let me anywhere near that website. So I had to resort to the phone. These days, I'm not sure if the corporate surveillance extends to the phones, too, but thank goodness for cell phones. Only the NSA and the police stingrays are listening to those...

The funny thing is, I probably could have streamed Miley Cyrus on the company computer.

I actually don't have an issue with any place banning EC. :/ It's their right to do that, and plus, yeah, the physical and sexual health area of EC can definitely by NSFW...

It's banned by our ISP, hence I haven't been posting for a while.

Lots of people use Tor to get onto websites that ISP's in certain nations outright block... Just saying.

Anyone who funded EC banned should post an Ask the Staff message. Back when EC started, it was owned by an adult media company (as a safe place for the under-18 folks to go ). And I think we may have shared an IP address with adult media sites. So some companies associated EC with adult media.

Now that we are an IRS recognized public charity, there shouldn't be any issue with the site being in anyone's ban list

We are happy to contact anyone (business, school, ISP) blocking our traffic.

I find it interesting that an adult media company founded EC. I haven't heard of things like that happening before.

It's not banned at my school. (Which is funny, because they've managed to block most forum/blog sites)
