This really annoys me for 3 reasons
1 The word amen means so be it. Basically someone is saying about someone dying and they want you to reply so be it.
2 people will not be cursed or gain a lot of money by typing amen
3 People are using a very good Christian word to use sick or homeless people to get comments on there posts.

I'm not against the word just how it is used.

I cannot stand any sort of click-baiting on Facebook. Such posts are designed to acquire likes and shares, thereby having little to no value.

"LIKE if you love Jesus. Keep scrolling if you worship Satan." I mean seriously?

Despite people in my life's best intentions, I never do Facebook, I don't even have an account. Don't see the point.

Facebook is an amazing tool, but most people use it for superfluous stuff.

I mean, we can use it to discuss politics, to share knowledge, to maintain contact with people all around the globe and share knowledge with them.

Instead, most people use it to share things like you mentioned, to post 9999 different photos of their boyfriends/girlfriends, to share photos of food, etc.

I'm not saying we can't use it for fun. I use it to see and comment about entertainment too, like games, movies, etc. However, people should also use it to learn more and to do useful things.

Yeah. But it also is an invasion of privacy. And how lame is it that people go around asking people to be their friends, and are able to take this privilege away? Junior High School mentality.

The people who design the facebook platform have incorporated every aspect of the science of addiction into their product. I just read a story in the Guardian, that claims both adult and adolescent users of facebook spend four or more hours a day on the platform. All the click bait, wanting to see whether others "like" you, obsessing about either who is watching you or who is stalking you (the difference is that the former are people you want to show off to, while the latter are the "losers" you favorably compared yourself with in high school.

So typing "amen" is the least of the problems one will find on that platform. There's something for everyone to be annoyed about on there. For me, the one thing that is my main annoyance is that piss-ant Zuckerberg's wholesale redefinition of the word "friend." Like everything else he's hijacked, it's been used to co-opt the normal interchange of human communication, and monetize it for his Wall Street sycophants.

I use Facebook just for messenger and events. Events on Facebook are particularly useful, you can always know what's going on, who's going to what, and galvanise a large group of people for your own parties fast. But there is nothing in the actual Facebook feed you scroll down that is ever worth looking at, apart from posts from family members or the sharing of political content (I found Facebook really useful in keeping informed about, and debating and joining action against brexit).

True. But this isn't just Facebook. In my cynical moments, I'd say it's pretty much the whole Internet...

I would never type Amen. Mostly because, according to religious people, I WORSHIP SATAN! But Satan doesn't exist so...sure. Why not. I'll tell you I worship him if that's what you want. I don't really care...I'd still never type something religious. Ever.

Just ignore stuff like that. I click hide whenever I see someone on my friend's list posting/sharing such stuff. Life is too short to start taking things like this seriously IMHO.

I never got a post like that. Might be because I don't often associate with praying types of folks, usually I have a lot of sciencey and anti dogma type of friends on Facebook. I did have someone send me a prayer once and I asked them to not do that anymore because it is against my beliefs, they then stopped sending me that kind of messages.

I'm not religious so no I probably wouldn't. I don't really comment on anything. The most annoying thing to me is when my dad takes those stupid Facebook quizzes and shares them all the time.

    Modern day chain mail.
There's an option to ignore the types of posts or people that you don't like, so maybe try that?
