I'm not gay. I like girls, but I'm not gay. They are not straight. We are not gay. You are not transgender. That is not your identity. You are artists, students, and athletes. Business people, preachers, politicians. We don't come out of our mom's stomachs saying, "I'm gay" or "you're straight". The world labels us as these things, and we learn to call ourselves the same labels. But that isn't who we are. When we strip away all the labels and look at our very core, we are all one.

    Idealistic; truth.
    Realistic; falsehood.
Sometimes, things that seem logical on paper, are not by human conception.

In a perfect society, a world without labels could exist. Sadly, we live in a society where we are driven apart by our labels, where we cannot leave our houses without being judged. I would love if all labels disappear and there was world peace, but sadly, this isn't a utopia, and it isn't realistic.

And I'm not willing to abandon the bisexual label.

It's great and all and yeah, we shouldn't only be judged by our sexuality, gender, race, etc. But nothing wrong with being proud of our sexualities/genders/heritage.

I only officially claim one label: crazy black-and-yellow bastard. My trans-ness is a footnote.

If that's how you see things, then good for you, OP. Actually, I agree a lot, as in, I feel the same way a lot. Everyone feels differently though, which is important to remember. : )

I get what you're saying and I agree that we are more than our sexualities or gender identities, but I also think being LGBT is a big enough part of our lives that it is part of who we are as humans. Straight/cis people don't face the same struggles that we do.

I am speaking for myself though. I'm more than just being gay but being gay is a big part of who I am because I've struggled to come out, accept myself, and then finally find pride in my sexuality.

To be fair, these "labels" that people like to demonize are a more concise way of stating what you find attractive. Sure not all of them apply to everyone, but saying "I'm bi." is faster than saying "I'm attracted to both men and women." I don't see the harm in that.

Getting rid of these terms won't bring us any closer to harmony anyway.
