I was on a certain Gay dating web site earlier this evening where people mark their feelings for the profiles of others with smilies, dickies and similar. I was only on for a few moments, not even sure why, but saw that a few people had viewed my profile, had a look at where they were and then moved on. Most are too far away to be plausible.

Shortly afterwards I received a message from one asking why I hadn't given him a smilie - as liking his profile - when he had given me one. He lives quite a distance away and, while the profile was good and the man decidedly attractive - and young too - the distance makes the difference. He is also in a relationship.

I found the mail to be pushy, as if he needed a booster for his own profile, a confirmation that he looks good and people would go for him.

Do you ever get such reactions, just from looking at a profile or even smiling at someone? How do you react?

I don't let pushy people get to me. I just ignore them.

Awhile back I used to get messages on Facebook from people asking me to like their stuff. If I don't "like" by myself, not muchhhh less likely to "like" it when asked to.

So yeah, I just ignore it ^_^

I've had a lot of problems with pushy people on Facebook and that is why I just ignore and keep it moving. In fact, I don't visit FB a lot. Maybe twice a month if that.

That sounds annoying. I can't recall ever experiencing something like that, but it'd make me really uncomfortable. >.<

Unfortunately for some people - numbers of likes, shares, smiles, rt's etc.. have become a measurement of their worth. Their self-love and self-acceptance (or lack of) is derived from what other people think of them.
    They should be pitied.
