Am I the only one who gets ticked off when people casually refer to women as bitches? Like, on Facebook I see it, and just the other day a talented actress I follow posted a pic of her and her friends at some fancy place, and the caption read "Me n my bitcheeez." I hear it a lot too when a straight man says "who gets bitches? Yeah, I do/I get all the bitches." Lots of times they are just joking, but I don't know, it still gets under my skin how accepted it is to just call a woman that. I also really hate how people stereotype that all women are bitches. Just me? Anyone else understand?

Um...how could any woman *not* be at least slightly offended at the notion that all women (presumably including them) are bitches?

It really is demeaning to do so, and I can definitely understand why a woman would be offended by the term. I don't think I as a man have a place to say whether or not you should feel offended by that or not.

I was always taught that was a derogatory term, so, yeah... I don't understand this whole thing. It seems like it's intended to be affectionate? Maybe?

I'm the same way, I just keep it to myself because the majority doesn't seem to understand. Ugh.

It seems more common among certain demographics. They aren't even referring to a particularly unpleasant woman, or someone who "gets around" (not that it would be right in those cases, either, but at least understandable).

I also get upset at how casually people throw it around, "B*tch is crazy!" or "B*tch had it coming". I wouldn't be surprised if they referred to their mothers and daughters this way, honestly.

Worst part is some (including women) see nothing wrong with it.

You know, I actually had a very similar conversation with J earlier today. She said pretty much the same thing.

This is why I direct it at everyone, and only when I am exceptionally upset with them. I don't use it lightly, and only when someone really deserves it.

context context context context context context context context context context context

I'm not going to casually call my casual friends my casual bitches, only close ones, both girls AND guys. And they call me bitch too. Even my boyfriend calls his sister bitch and they love each other! I can understand why you're offended if the word 'bitch/bitches' is directed at you. But when it's not, it's not something to be offended about, cringey maybe, but never an offense. My private convos will probably make a lot of people faint  And yeah, I dare say all that as a man. And you may say that I have no rights to tell women to be offended. But, you don't have the rights to judge others' worth and relationship based on their conversation with their friends, nor women who are fine with the word 'bitches' have less self-respect, intelligence than you.

Oh yeah, I will agree that calling your mother/daughters with derogatory names are not ok.

Most people are pretty clueless...I take very little personally at this point. The culture is incredibly dumbed down.

Well as a female, I find it...normal? As teens, in the very least. Though we don't refer to each other as bitches, I do find myself throwing them at my close friends often, in a 'aw come on!' way. An easy banter. That being said, it makes things difficult for me when I'm angry with them, though apparently it's so bad that even when I am strongly annoyed, they can tell... = ="

Because, instead of being used as an insult when between close friends, it's more of a slang for 'friends'. Of course, if someone I don't know calls me a bitch, they're gonna be in for quite some hell. :3

I think it can be very harsh and demeaning. Especially when a guy calls you one because you didnt give him the attention he wanted

    This 1000%.

When girls stop posting pictures of themselves posing in the mirror with the caption "my crazy bitches"

Then women can have a legit reason to complain

Bitches do be crazy though. I have enough female friends to know that.

That's what makes them so interesting though.

Eh, It's a matter of context.

But bitch is seen as an offensive term, similar to calling a gay guy a faggot (and gay guys call themselves fags all the time where I'm from, so we can argue they shouldn't be offended over that either).

    I don't call people I don't know bitches. Because that's rude.

I call my super close friends my bitches. Guys or girl, it doesn't matter.

I highly doubt you guys would appreciate it if people started calling all men bastards or douche bags simply because they are men and they are referring to the general population of men. Not an attack against you here, just trying to put things into perspective.

  20. Tbh, I wouldn't care. My peers and I are very casual and are thick-skinned about this As a result, we aren't that PC. My guy friends, female friends, and I call each other hoes, dicks, bitches, sluts, fuckboys (just the guys), asses, etc. and we don't even care. I hardly even bat an eye when others do the same. I've seen fb pics of guys saying "with my fuckboys here."

I guess that it all comes down to how we perceive things and how offended we get.
