Let's get one thing straight, I'm not. Haha. Just needed to get that out of the way. I think all of us already know that Santa Claus isn't real. I was just wondering, how old were you and how did you find out?

Believe it or not, I was 15. That was two years ago.So basically, I got a laptop for Christmas. I absolutely loved it. I was using it in my room one day and my dad said "Hey son, did you like the laptop?". And I said "What do you mean? Santa bought it". After that he said, "Come on. We both known I was the one who got the presents". Then I just said "I know" in an awkward tone. Then he left my room. I guess he just assumed that since I was 15 I probably already knew. It wasn't his fault, but I legit believed until I was 15.

I never bought that bullshit. NEVER. Same way that I never bought the whole "God is real" thingie. I always assumed both were myths parents pretended were real just so kids would behave under the pretense that "God is always watching!/Santa will get you off the good boy's list!" Imagine my shock when I found out they actually believe one of those... But yeah, never bough into the whole Santa thing. Not as far as I can remember.

    He isn't real! He isn't?!?

Seriously...not sure, but elementary school someplace. I can't remember the exact year, but my mother sure could because she was mad at one of my classmates whom she thought was responsible for me not knowing.

Still...Santa arrived reliably, filling my big red sock. I think he was still calling even the last Christmas we were in my childhood home (at which time I was about 20). He probably stopped calling less because of age, and more the circumstances in our lives, including the fact that we spent every Christmas after that with extended family until my mother, who'd acted as agent for Santa, died.

Strangely, Santa started leaving things for my mother, too, the last few years we were in our home.

Strange, but believable, somehow. Indeed, this sounds just like what happens with talks about sexuality...a lot of parents assume the kids know what they need to know. Although, with sex, it's a topic many parents will do anything they can to avoid talking about.

I gave up on both at around the same time, I think I was 8 years old? Eh, i can't remember when exactly. But it confused the heck out of younger me when my parents told me both and still beleived one of them. I ironically beleived in santa maybe almost a year longer, because I knew the North Pole was a real place at least.

I stopped believing in Santa Clause around 4 or so, primarily because the story made absolutely no sense. Why isn't he instantly distributing food to all those starving African children you told me about to make me clean my plate??? TELL ME!!! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Probably when I was four. When we left Milk and Cookies for Santa the milk was replaced next morning with a Diet Coke (which is the only thing my dad ever drinks)

    Just now.

No, but seriously. One day I decided I didn't believe in him anymore and I asked my mom and she told me.

YOU MEAN HE ISN'T REAL? :roflmao: Just kidding, of course I know he isn't real by now. I think it'd be a bit concerning if I didn't.

I'm not sure how old I was, I only remember my sister trying to convince me that he wasn't real, and she grew sick of trying to convince me so she talked me into staying up so she could prove he wasn't real. I saw my parents handling and possibly wrapping gifts and my whole world shattered right there as it hit me Santa wasn't real and I figured it out over time.

My parents never bothered too much with the whole Santa thing with me much, except the odd reference and getting me to leave alcohol out for "Rudolph". To which I would respond "but isn't it dangerous for Rudolph to drink and drive through the sky like that?"

Ah, poor ol' innocent me.

I was 12. I asked everyone except my parents in sixth grade, but no on gave a straight answer. I guess my parents assumed I knew at that point because they seemed surprised when I asked the next year. I kind of wish I still believed, because now my parents take me christmas shopping with them and there's barely any surprises. Glad I'm away a school for the next few years so they can get more shopping done before I come home (I actually have stuff I don't know about this year!)

I knew Santa was'nt real since I was a child.
To me, he was an idea, rather than a person.

I was five years old and my birthday is December 8 so my drunk father decided it would be great to tell me that Santa Claus is not real and that my parental units bought the gifts

I don't remember exactly how old I was, I think it came gradually. First, I noticed that "Santa" was wearing a Santa mask, and I figured Santa had just asked my uncle Ronald to step in for him as he was probably very busy.
And then later, as various men I knew from real life kept being "Santa", I guess I just realized that he probably wasn't real.
