Having a V day here. Today:
Woke up at 9, ate breakfast
    Went to a library
Skimmed through a couple books, nothing looks interesting.
    Went home.
    Wasn't hungry until 5
    Ate lunch
    Brushing my teeth right now

No one calls me or texts me.
    Lovely.
I'm always the one who texts first. But I don't even like texting. Forever alone.

So after five years of bottling up my feelings and struggles, and not being open with others about how I've really felt when it comes to a lot of what I'm dealing with, I've finally decided to take a positive step in my mental health journey and am going to be going to get a depression screening soon. Whenever all of these feelings started a few years ago, I just thought it was the usual ups and downs that life brings. I had deaths in family at the time and was struggling heavily with my sexuality, and I figured this would pass as I grew older. Now I'm 19, but these feelings have still been there, waiting for times when I'm vulnerable to creep back into the forefront. This year since I've been at college, the feelings of anxiety, irritability, emptiness, fatigue, and terrible sleeping patterns have been worse than previous years, and after finding resources at my University I figured that the best next step for me would to be to address this head-on, as bottling up feelings hasn't worked for me so far. There's always been the stigma in the back of my mind as well about men seeking help with their mental health that also made me so hesitant, but after being comforted by my support groups indirectly by how I've seen them support others, I've decided to go forward. I'm just happy to have such a wonderful support system and I'm ready to face this and take positive steps to better my mental health.

Absolutely, Bryan. Those resources are there for you to use! I'm glad you feel ready to tackle this, as there's no sense struggling on when life could potentially be made much easier for you! It's kinda like someone breaking their foot and not going to the doctor because they feel ashamed that they can't walk properly! Mental health and 'physical health' are the same in my book - they're just 'health'.

Like all things that people get anxious about, the idea of asking for help and advice seems so scary in your mind, but in reality it's the unknown that's scary. Afterwards, you'll probably wonder why you hadn't done it sooner!

Spending V-Day listening to David Bowie, writing a bittersweet love poem inspired by my crush...

Undateable. [Extra points to anyone who gets the reference.]
