    My Australian roommate was hit by a car when he was on his bike outside of a Trader Joe's a few months ago. Whoever it was, this mysterious housewife in a black suburban, fled the scene and has never been caught. The dozen hipster eye witnesses on the scene called the police and an ambulance also arrived at the same time when I also got there to check on him, because he let me know right after it happened. I'm his emergency contact apparently. The medics literally only checked him over for bruises and left, and the police helped me load his bike into my car. He got the bill for that today: $1,700 dollars. For the medics to look over him once for bruises and scrapes, and of course he doesn't have insurance. So that's cool. American healthcare is super fucked up. $1,700 for an ambulance he didn't call, didn't need, and didn't use. What a fucking joke. Vote democratic, whoever the nomination is this year. Republicans won't do shit for people like my Aussie and this is morally wrong. He has no family, works a job that pays barely above minimum wage. How is he ever supposed to get ahead in a world like this?

    Is it pretty strange that I've mentally prepared myself for the death of all my close friends and family? Even thought of what I'd say and do under those circumstances, for a few.. I guess I don't want death to catch me laying down.

    My friend's schedule finally worked out in a way with mine that we could get together for a few hours yesterday :slight_smile: It was really nice just to hang out and be cared for by someone like-minded, and I wish we could do it more often.

    And then I went to the free skate this morning :slight_smile: it's been a while since I put on the skates, and it was just a bunch of fun.
