Not the sexual kind of roleplay, but roleplay on forums. The threadstarter will lay out the scene, and as the story progresses, people can create their own characters, introduce themselves, and be a part of the story. All additions are in 3rd person. I've done it before and it was actually quite fun. It's great practice for those that are into storywriting.
I roleplayed for years until around 3 years ago, not just on forums, but interactive games as well. It is really fun, and I honestly do think roleplaying is the reason why I'm doing so well in English classes these days. Ha.
I rarely ever roleplayed on forums. I typically roleplay one-on-one through instant messaging with a friend. I still do that to this day. I have been thinking of doing a roleplay/ask blog on tumblr, though. And yet I'm not sure if I should do an OC one or something else. Scared of messing up (hooray anxiety).
I did and quiet liked it ! the only problem is finding a dedicated DM for those stuff, once my friend was a DM and he worked really hard to make it work ! I think those kind of stuff can go pretty well now in 2015, where there are co-op games that u can download player-made "maps" or "scenarios" that u literally *play* your character, and roleplay via VOIP with your friends ^_^ First that comes to my mind is Neverwinter Nights (D&D co-op)
I've only tried roleplay a few times, but I did like it. Like AgenderMoose, I have a fear of screwing up, so I rarely participate if given the chance, but I find it okay to do through forums as you can proofread your writings before submitting them. I'd be willing to give it a try
I used to do it all the time. I used a site called Caution 2.0 (now on jcink) to look for sites to rp on and some of them were - and still are - amazing. So many different genres for any sort of rp. I quit in March of this year though, to concentrate on other hobbies like ice hockey and my youtube channel. I miss it sometimes but still.
We've had several RP threads in Fun and Games over the summer. I was considering making a new one, but I'm not sure how many people would be interested or have the time in the busy holiday season.
I find role playing quite annoyin myself especially on game servers where the are takin up the chat with role play. That's just my opinion though.
I used to rp on the forums for a small game which has roughly 100 active people at any one time, it was quite good fun at first. Then when you reach the leadership levels of certain factions, you start to see the game within the game which is basically a poo slinging contest between various groups of people to try and get everyone else banned. I no longer rp on those forums or play the game associated with it, good riddance to bad rubbish. Since then I haven't really had much time to start role playing again which is sad because it was really good fun before I realised what was going on in that community.
Gay1234 this will be a thread so it won't really be that spammy and it is usually in fin and games so it is for the fun of it. I tried it before on a different forum where it was called a fanfic and I loved it, it was enjoyable
They also never seem to last long for some reason. I still get ideas for them, but i don't have the guts to actually start one anymore.
Ooh, I used to-the EC high school one and a few others, though they all died sad deaths not long after. It would be fun to have another roleplay though! But RPs do need a lot of structure to keep it from falling apart...= =
I used to Roleplay all the time, stopped, then Roleplayed a little bit on the side of other activities (or little to no activity) on a different forum. It's fun, I guess, but I have far too many problems to do it myself. I'm not a very good Roleplayer in my opinion, my vocabulary could use some expanding, I really want to improve my descriptive and metaphor skills, I am literally the worst person ever at creating characters (and plots), inspiration is unreliable, I have enormous anxiety which doesn't help with anything concerning Roleplays (among everything else in life, too), and other problems. So, yeah.
