Nah, I talk to my cat all the time and I'm pretty sane. (for the most part anyway.:lol ---------- Post added 15th Nov 2015 at 04:18 PM ---------- I see I'm not the only one who does this. I used to talk to my plants all the time.
No, it's completely normal. Animals actually try to decode language, even when you're not talking to them. My cat and dog picked up some useful words like ''food'', ''eat'', ''cat'', ''who'', ''plushie'' etc. Yeah, they focus on the ''interesting'' part xD They also understand when we're talking about them, even if we're not talking to them directly. The dog will turn her head to face us, but the cat will do as if she doesn't listen, but you can still see that she does.
I talk to my dog sometimes. Usually it's just baby-talk But sometimes I'll kind of talk to him as though I were talking to myself, especially when I'm home alone. I'll say things like "I don't know, boy" or "Where did I put that" and he just kind of stares at me
I have three pets and I talk to them. As if they are my children. I treat them just as I would treat a baby if I had one. I do the typical mom stuff read them bedtime stories talk to them about Santa coming and turkey day since the holidays are coming up. It's just me and my pets here so of course I'm going to talk to them. I used to work in dog daycare centers and pet sit and I would talk to those animals to. I feel animals really do listen to you even though they don't always talk back. I think it's great that you are taking care of a stray cat...animals will always be there for you
