Just a random hypothesis/question I had... I was wondering why Converse shoes were so popular, and, while wearing a pair, I found that their snugness made me feel sort of secure. Definitely not saying that people who wear converse are insecure, or vice versa, but I do know a lot of people who can apply to that. Or maybe there's something else that makes them special. They look cool, for one thing. Whether you be hipster, nerd, wallflower, rainbow, or just an average person wearing cool shoes... They make you feel sort of cool. Everyday cool. So maybe it's the looks that make us feel comfortable in them. Maybe it's because you can wear them for almost any occasion. Or maybe it's because they come in so many colors and styles. Anyhoo... What makes Converse shoes so... Nice?
I like the look of them. I own a pair of light grey Converse shoes. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/1f/27/71/1f2771e427dca57b9c78d09ccb0a0f43.jpg
I really like the look of them too. They're casual but cool, and seeing as my wardrobes pretty tomboy-ish, they pretty much go with anything!!^^ Super comfy for walking, running to the bus, did I mention walking? (all around the giant uni campus -__-) They're nicer to look at than a sneaker and comfortable so I think combined, that's why!! ---------- Post added 14th Nov 2015 at 07:42 PM ---------- Oooh, nice
All of the above. I've got high tops in dark pink, black, and white with black leopard spots. I also have a pair of low tan ones I wear to work.
For a number of reasons. I only have one pair of black and white Converse but I wear it all the time. It looks good on me, it's comfortable, and it usually goes quite well with my outfit.
I love how they look, but as someone that has walked miles on them (in a single day) I wouldn't go as far as to say they are comfortable. They are fine. They are not cumbersome nor do they give cramps or anything, but they do not cushion your feet in any way, and after 4-6 hours you really start to feel it. The difference in terms of soreness after a full day of wearing Converse (standard model) vs. other footwear clearly designed with this purpose in mind is night and day. Converse are so thin you might as well be walking in socks with soles (very thin soles at that). They are all style, and at that I think they excel, but not very practical to wear for most of the day (not if you are gonna be standing around a lot at least). If I know I'm gonna be out and about for more than 6 hours, they are not an option. I have 'em in black and blue. The black ones are in an embarrassing state though, I plan to replace them with a gray pair, not unlike the ones imnotreallysure showed but maybe darker?
I like the casualness of them, they tend to go with most of my clothes. Although technically I don't own an real converse shoes because I only have knock-off ones. Not great for really long walks though, especially if mud is involved.
I have navy ones. I like wearing them because it makes me feel more like me rather than a girly girl. I refuse to wear flats/heels/sandals to school for that reason.
I don't think I've ever worn a pair. My best friend worked at a Nike store when we were growing up, so he got me crazy discounts and I've been buying Nikes ever since.
I actually HATE Converse shoes (on myself, others can wear what they want) almost as much as monkstrap dress shoes. I find them weird and maybe they represent everything I don't like. Maybe I'm too "establishment". For casual shoes, it's usually Speerys and Crocs for me. And you CAN'T (or, rather, SHOULDN'T) wear them in every occasion. I hate seeing celebrities wearing Converse while wearing a suit as if saying "I'm wearing a suit, but I'm not a suit." Wear some damn oxfords. ---------- Post added 14th Nov 2015 at 10:03 AM ---------- New Balance for me .
Just counted - I own 10 pairs of Converse sneakers. Oops. Not just the classic All Stars, but also other models like these.
Agree 100%. Thinnest and most uncomfortable pair of shoes I ever tried. I thought it was just maybe my feet were weird; glad to see I'm not the only one.
They're comfortable for me and nice casual shoes. I really haven't looked back since getting them. The knockoffs are what kill my feet though.
I'm a bit late to this thread, but I think they're cool! I wear purple high tops. I used to like the diversity but for some reason in the UK, men's converse have turned so boring. We only get superhero limited editions - they're not that limited though, that's all they ever seem to do.
I love 'em. They've always been a great shoe, though the newer ones are not made as well as when they were still made in the US. They used to have a much more punk/alternative/skater symbolism,l though that has faded some, as they've become more common among the hipsters and even the general public. I also like old school Vans, and I love the lightweight, nylon/suede Tiger and Puma styles that came out in the late 1970s-early 1980, which they're making again. Very lightweight, fun shoes to wear.
I like the way they look :3 They're not very comfortable for me to wear, but they do look nice. Mine are green with a green floral pattern.
