https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...aying-shell-be-better-off-with-heterosexuals/ I think we really need better vetting of judges. The couple has been going through all the vetting process and got approvals from even the child's mother. The only reason this child is taken from a loving family is because this guy says she would be better with heterosexual couple. Not about child abuse, not about criminal history, not about anything else that could justify taking a child away from a family, this guy just do it because this is a lesbian couple.
Can the couple appeal to a higher court in cases of adoption? Or do they need to file a seperate lawsuit to regain custody of the child, if at all possible?
Can they ask the child where they want to be? [the whole point of fostering/adoption is for the benefit of a child, whether that be a hetero or homo relationship parenting.]
I saw this on Twitter. That is so fucking stupid!!!!! I mean really what are they gonna do take a baby out of a loving caring home and put it with some abusive fuckers just because the loving parent are 2 moms?!?!?!?! Whoever this judge is he's a die hard Mormon who's got 8 kids, drives a suburban and he has all his kid stickers on the back of his car showing how many kids he has him and his wife and his pets! Well ya know what I think? I hope that son of a bitch's kids all end up being gay!!! ALL OF THEM!!!!
I'm pretty sure most hetero couples aren't abusive [same as homo couples]. And who cares what sexuality his kids are? ... nobody can choose that.
Homophobia in the judicial system? I'm staggered. Child welfare people are looking into it - Order to take baby from lesbian foster parents is under review – LGBTQ Nation - they're as baffled by this as everyone else.
The judge sounds like a bitter Mormon, out for revenge... It's sad, Utah is so beautiful, yet filled with so many utterly crazy, smiling-zombie-like religious zealots who make others suffer.
This is a good example of what same-sex couples are still fighting for, and why marriage is not the end-all-be-all. This judge should not be able to nab these two women's child without hard evidence that's been put up to scrutiny.
The past just keeps repeating itself, doesn't it? It's not any different than: "ordering the girl removed from her foster home because the child would be better off with Caucasian parents, he said." It's literally the same as saying one race makes better parents than anybody else, just because of their skin color. I wonder why so many Americans realize racial discrimination is wrong, but can't see other types of discrimination are just the same thing? Change one word here, and you'd probably have front page news.
Maybe they should change the one word, get people's reaction, and then correct it (?). I think if the child's mother approved, then it should be approved, not some judge whose not a part of the child's life after the hammer goes down. Obviously they have to check if everything's safe, but sexuality doesn't decide if you're safe or not.
Surely an appeal can be made, or at least I'm desperately hoping so. The judge involved has a lot of negative history, again undermining my trust in the US judiciary. So many have done things like this that they just need to be removed from the bench they serve on. And it must be far more disturbing for the child to be removed from new parents and thrown to another family than it would be to remain in a household with same-sex parents, even if we were to accept the dubious reasoning of the judge.
You know what's harmful? Moving a child in foster care from one home to the next, to the next, to the next... This family wanted to ADOPT this girl. She may not get this chance again. And for what? So she can live in a dozen heterosexual households? Kids in foster care are moved too much, it's damaging.
How disgusting. There aren't enough parents willing to adopt anyways, why destroy this child's change for a normal life for not good reason?
This decision has no point in law and will be overturned, subsequently there will be a lawsuit against the judge.
This is why we NEED federal nondiscrimination laws that protect sexual orientation and gender identity.
