I don't have a great body. It's not awful but I'm a little chubby. Does this essentially screw up my chances online or even in the real world when it comes to dating?
It may turn some people off but let's be honest. Those aren't even the kinds of people anyone needs to give the time of day with anyway. I'm built like a potato and I somehow get lucky once in a while.
You could watch these studies [of course, not every study is definite] (woman) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2alnVIj1Jf8 (man) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUy3_kBme4M
Eh, misleading. The gender dynamics that go on between men and women are far from analogous to the dynamics going on between just men or just women.
People who are picky with their partner body probably won't be interested. Whether they're right or wrong about giving such value to physical appearance, there are still definitely a lot of guys who wouldn't mind dating someone with a chubby body. So truthfully I don't think you're screwed, but there will be less people interested.
There is no right or wrong regarding attraction within the context of consenting adults. People like what they like. One's attractions are not political statements.
Fair enough! Just didn't want this to devolve into guilt-tripping others because of their preferences. Glad we are on the same page.
I find certain heavier-set or chubby guys attractive.. to be honest I place more importance on facial features. A guy can have a body like Adonis, but if his face isn't attractive, nothing will happen.
Re: Do you need a good body to get dates on online dating websites?ii From my experience, the overwhelming majority of folks on dating sites don't have great bodies. So I think you'll be fine, as most people aren't gonna judge you for being slightly out of shape if they are too. Unless you're only trying to date dudes who like Taylor Lautner, nothing to worry about. If you have ridiculously high standards then maybe hit the gym.
No, you don't need a good body. It may help, but if you're talking about real online dating websites that rely on more than just your image, people can fall in love with your personality, too.
I've seen/met some attractive guys that ended up not having the best body (They had, as the now popular term is called, "dad bod") and I would still date them. So no, if you have a decent looking face I doubt it will matter to most people.
A persons body type isn't what's important in my opinion, what's in there heart is. There personality and attitude is a much more important aspect. You should be accepted for who you are. Hope this helps.
That's awesome that you really feel this way. I think a lot of other people say stuff like that without meaning it. Personally, I couldn't be with someone who I don't find physically attractive. Maybe that makes me shallow, but I'm being honest about it. If most of us could look beyond appearance, there would probably be more happy relationships out there. However, it's human nature to consider physical attractiveness first in my opinion... so maybe not necessarily wrong.
Thanks, and yea that's how I honestly look at it. Everybody has there own preferences, and as you said that's not necessarily wrong just personal preference. Myself I don't think I look all that good, and you are right it is human nature to consider attractiveness and whether or not if you feel a connection to a person, but I think we each as individuals have different idea's on what we consider attractive as well as what we look for in others. Were all different, and that's a good thing. ^^ Personally myself I haven't been in any relationships or been with anyone or anything yet, and call me old fashioned and sappy, but I still have hope and if I'm ever lucky enough to meet that special someone I would commit and do it fully devoting myself to the one I care about and only him with my only goal being to see him smile daily. In short I'm a one guy person. lol I'm an open book, and I talk from the heart. With respect of course. Sorry to ramble as well.
