I am trying to learn how to code but I keep forgetting the code!Any tips on how I could remember it?Like I go to try my own coding from using codecademy and I just can't do anything because I forgot the code.

I sometimes writr down my code on paper and work the code out.
    It helps me remember it.
And I keep writing some different versions of the code. It helps!

Well, I'm not a "programmer," but I am a game designer, and game design involves a fair amount of coding.

C++ and ActionScript are the two languages I'm most familiar with. I'm not exactly sure why we learn ActionScript at my school, since it's a dying language, though I will say that learning ActionScript has helped me tremendously in better understanding coding and picking up new languages faster. I've also worked extensively in scripting languages for game engines developed specifically for my school.

Visual Basic was my first language, and I had to work with it again recently...it's not a language I'd like to work with again.

    Hi!
I would like to try my hand at game designing.
I am pretty good at C++ and was thinking of starting out with Unity.
Should I start out with Unity or try some other language first?

I know some code since it's pretty necessary when you're a gray hat and use Linux.
I know a little python, a little C++ but I'm better with stuff like html and various Kali related programs.

I screw around with HTML from time to time, but I'm by no means an expert at it. I haven't tried any other programming languages yet.

You don't have to use unless in Ruby, You can do a if not, if you prefer. Unless is just an inverted if, so I don't understand the strong dislike people have.

One of the philophies of Ruby is that the code should be self documenting. This is mostly accomplished by trying to be as English like as it can be. It took me a while to get my head wrapped around it, but once I did it made a lot of sense.

I've worked on lots of platforms and languges over the years, and I've found that once you get your head around its design philosophy they are all pretty easy to work with.

I haven't worked much with Unity, but based on everything I know, I think Unity is a good choice for starters. Game Maker is also a popular choice for beginners.

Working with an engine will be extremely helpful in terms of understand how games are created from a technical standpoint, but game designers also have to ensure that the player has a worthwhile experience while playing the game. Unfortunately, there aren't many online resources that discuss game design theory, but I would recommend examining games you like and trying to identify how the game teaches the player the mechanics, guides the player in the right direction, and keeps the player interested.

I'm still a novice but I'm quite good at it.

I know a considerable about of VB and I enjoy it, but I've messed around with HTML which I'm not so fond of.

I know the basics in programming, specializing in Python. It's really fun and I will most certainly study computer science when I get older.

Hi, I'm a programmer! Well, trying to be, anyway. I'm currently studying computer science at university.
    I know vb.net from a-level, and I'm learning c++. I know some Ruby and Python too. :slight_smile:
Nice to know there are quite a few programmers on here!

for anyone who wants to really understand programming, assembly is the answer! dont limit yourself to the language syntax though, learn how things work on the inside - registers, flags, and function-calling using the stack. once u know those, u'll understand all other languages way deeper than before 8)

Java's the only thing I really know. I tried my hand at HTML, but anything beyond a web page from 2002 makes me cry.

Hey, maybe EC should have some kind of game jam.
