I've always been labeled as something among the likes, whether I intended it or not. Might as well roll with it.

I have a strong urge to rebel and go against the norm, usually. And I'm usually not very good with authority figures, though I'm not very confrontational.

I think I'm more mild-mannered and a bit dweeby than I am a rebel. I'm a social activist, but I usually do what is asked of me like a good little boy. I prefer to be on good terms with adults, as my maturity level is on par with most of theirs, and I wouldn't want to diminish that by going against them.

Strong urge to rebel against the norm - check.
Usually not very good with authority figures - check.
Not confrontational - meh... sometimes, though sometimes I guess I am :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Pretty much this^ anyway!

I definitely think there is such a thing as legitimate authority; but even legitimate authority sometimes has to be questioned or revised. And then there is of course illegitimate authority, for which perhaps the most powerful manifestation is police brutality.

I don't deliberately change things to be different from the people around me but I'm certainly different by my subconscious (and often impulsive) actions. I guess I'm rebellious in the sense that I do things some other people might do but I go about doing them differently.

The closest thing I can remember is that I initially didn't want to use high-tier fighting characters in video games, because TIRES DON EXITS it seemed everyone was using them.

If I'm following rules, then it's usually because I want to, for various reasons. I'm a bit like an anti-villain, so yeah. I'm a rebel in some ways.

Nah. Not consciously, anyhow. I find it kind of stupid that some people rebel just for the heck of it. Some emos, in particular, really get under my skin when they claim to be against conformity yet they are conforming themselves by adhering to many emo stereotypes and dress styles.
I just stay true to myself, and if that happens to fall out of the norm, so what?

Yet again I am moved to share from the Osho Zen Tarot:

To answer the OP: with every fiber of my being, I strive to be what Osho is talking about here. I don't always succeed beautifully. But I think my sincere attempt gives me the right to say "yes" to the question.

I don't consider myself a rebel, but have been called so.

For example, my brother loves to insist that I'm a 'prunish elitist' or 'hipster.' Meh... I just do what I like to do, because I like to do it. Not because so-and-so is doing it or wants me to do it, or because so-and-so ISN'T doing it and therefore I must be "different" and do that thing.

I just don't give a s**** is all. If that makes me rebellious in others' eyes, so be it.

Although... I will rebel against illogical, inefficent, or otherwise ignorant/stupid people or systems.

Wow biAnnika thanks for your enlightenment...

4 - The Rebel (see picture below)
The powerful and authoritative figure in this card is clearly the master of his own destiny. On his shoulder is an emblem of the sun, and the torch he holds in his right hand symbolizes the light of his own hard-won truth. Whether he is wealthy or poor, the Rebel is really an emperor because he has broken the chains of society's repressive conditioning and opinions. He has formed himself by embracing all the colors of the rainbow, emerging from the dark and formless roots of his unconscious past and growing wings to fly into the sky. His very way of being is rebellious--not because he is fighting against anybody or anything, but because he has discovered his own true nature and is determined to live in accordance with it. The eagle is his spirit animal, a messenger between earth and sky. The Rebel challenges us to be courageous enough to take responsibility for who we are and to live our truth.

Yup that's me I'm a leader speak my mind do my thing don't matter is people like it or not but I defiantly like that definition I like to do whatever I'm into for the moment

Yep, but a kindhearted one, the thwarted idealist turned towards irony.

I have always questioned almost every existing paradigm.

As a boy, they said I was too kind to animals; not willing to shoot squirrels with a BB gun.

When I came out, I did not at all fit into what was then (now?) the so called gay community. They called for Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Abercrombie and Fitch; I called for The Dead Kennedys, Joy Division, and my own rag-tag style. They cast me out, shunned me.

I have always questioned the way we live in this world: Religion, social order, every norm: To me, being a rebel is asking the question why? Why must we live this way, and not some other?

Like some curious buy, that question always echoes: But why?

So yes, I am a rebel, through and through, a Buddhist who questions the Buddha, a Pagan who has no rites, a hedonist and an intellectual, always fighting towards what I sense to be of mutual benefit to this world.

Here, the poet Anne Sexton gets it better:

Love her. She won the Pulitzer Prize, then killed herself; an enormous loss.

I was thinking: I even rebel against life itself.

Read this, and it hit home:

    Wanting to Die

    (Anne Sexton, 1928 - 1974)

Since you ask, most days I cannot remember.
I walk in my clothing, unmarked by that voyage.
Then the almost unnameable lust returns.

Even then I have nothing against life.
I know well the grass blades you mention,
the furniture you have placed under the sun.

But suicides have a special language.
Like carpenters they want to know which tools.
    They never ask why build.

Twice I have so simply declared myself,
have possessed the enemy, eaten the enemy,
have taken on his craft, his magic.

In this way, heavy and thoughtful,
    warmer than oil or water,
I have rested, drooling at the mouth-hole.

I did not think of my body at needle point.
Even the cornea and the leftover urine were gone.
Suicides have already betrayed the body.

    Still-born, they don’t always die,
but dazzled, they can’t forget a drug so sweet
that even children would look on and smile.

To thrust all that life under your tongue!--
that, all by itself, becomes a passion.
    Death’s a sad Bone; bruised, you’d say,

and yet she waits for me, year after year,
to so delicately undo an old wound,
to empty my breath from its bad prison.

    Balanced there, suicides sometimes meet,
raging at the fruit, a pumped-up moon,
leaving the bread they mistook for a kiss,

leaving the page of the book carelessly open,
something unsaid, the phone off the hook
and the love, whatever it was, an infection.

No, I wouldn't call myself a rebel. I haven't got the knowledge or the material ability to rebel against others' authority or to abandon their teachings. I think it would be very unwise for me to be rebellious if I'm not sufficiently capable to make my own way.

I think I can learn more from others' rebellion more than I could from any rebellion of my own, for now at least. I think there are positive rebellions and negative rebellions. Good rebellion is done in order to accomplish something, while negative rebellion occurs simply out of spite or is well-meant but has no fruitful, achievable result in mind. Making distinctions between the two might be too hard without being wise enough to know what I'm doing.

Im more of a troll to authority then an outright rebel... or at least that's how I consider it...at work co-workers tell me when I get started with my supervisors to shut up because they know I will take it to the very edge if not pas it, when I get going I lose my filter, I've been told I can be annoying and I rebel just because, honestly I don't know why...I think I have to find some balance in my life.
