Gunman Murders Two Virginia Reporters in Attack Broadcast on Live TV This happened during a live report about local business development at 7 AM Eastern time in Roanoke, Virginia. I'm not going to post the link to the video, but it's out there if you want to see it. The suspect is at large. This story is developing, and more information is soon to come out.
Police are saying they have a name and license plate of the suspect, though they're not releasing it yet. WHSV in Harrisonburg, Virginia says the suspect is currently being chased on Interstate 81. For the record, here's the screenshot of the shooter's face: ---------- Post added 26th Aug 2015 at 10:27 AM ---------- Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe says that the shooter is a disgruntled former employee of the station, out for revenge.
Oh my God:eek: not too far away from where I live, this country is really getting screwed up nowadays, some people are so ghetto.. it's insane, Swiss are allowed to carry firearms, but even they keep their country in check.. 'Murica SMH, two young people's future's taken away, it's disgusting:icon_sad: ---------- Post added 26th Aug 2015 at 02:38 PM ---------- Oh boy, it's one of their own people
Jesus fuck! that's not very far from my city! I'm sure glad I don't live directly in Roanoke, but still! I hope he doesn't strike again where I live! :icon_eek:
I am so sorry to hear this. Being a journalist or cameraman is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, now even on American soil. My sympathy to all who have lost a loved one to this senseless murder. My admiration and thanks to all who work on the frontlines to bring us the news. May you be safe and enjoy your job despite this tragedy.
If only those reporters had guns to protect themselves. America needs more guns, not less! Freedom comes at a price.
The gun laws in Switzerland would make the NRA explode if they were even suggested for the States. It's mind boggling for us on this side of the pond that even sensible regulation is heresy in America.
Nope. We are too stupid to do anything but listen to the fucking shitlords of the nra. If only they'd had guns. They could have shot him first. :roflmao:
The shooter was indeed a former reporter named Vester Flanagan, whose on-air name was Bryce Williams. He'd been fired for being a total dick to his fellow WDBJ employees, and Alison Parker and Adam Ward were the two who had complained to HR about his behavior. This was a revenge killing, and he wanted it done while they were on the air. The shooter fled the scene to the Roanoke airport where he ditched his car and rented a different vehicle from a rental car company on-site at the airport. After he was spotted on the interstate, he shot himself and after the car crashed, he was airlifted to a hospital in the Metro DC area, and was pronounced dead at about 1:30 PM eastern time. ---------- Post added 26th Aug 2015 at 02:53 PM ---------- A new POV video made by the shooter was discovered on his Twitter page. This sicko made and posted the actual video of himself shooting the news crew and posted it for the world to see as he fled.
Guns don't run around killing people by themselves. People with issues will find a way to kill someone regardless of whether or not guns are taken away. It's like saying we should ban cars because they kill people. I believe the second amendment was pretty clear on the matter. It's undoubtably horrible that these innocent people were killed on live news. May they rest in peace.
Why do Americans hang onto every little thing the second amendment says - a document written hundreds of years ago? Surely it is easily alterable to reflect the time it is in. Nobody needs a gun - we manage just fine without carrying firearms. These incidents are a dime a dozen in the US so you are clearly doing something wrong.
And the Lord said "let there be Rush" and it was so - Limbaugh Uses Virginia Shooting To Call For Journalists To Arm Themselves | Video | Media Matters for America OK, not quite the NRA And this means you can't have sensible gun regulation because? Face it, America has a problem with guns and their glorification.
Of course we need more regulation on who's allowed a gun! I never said or implied otherwise. Strict regulations are definitely a necessity, but that doesn't mean we need to take guns from the responsible, crime free people. And honestly, if guns were to be banned, criminals would still be able to obtain them if they really wanted to. Law abiding citizens would give them up. And yes, I also am irritated by the glorification of guns in our society. Call of Duty, shooting games in general. You aren't supposed to make war or anything fun.
