I thought Spanish until I moved to Spain and realised how terrible it actually sounds compared to the movies. Now I couldn't pick between Norwegian Swedish and Finnish.
Nothing wrong with Romance languages, but I find them a bit overrated as far as sound goes. French and Spanish aren't the only "sexy" languages. I honestly love the way Russian sounds--even if it has a reputation of being "harsh". An attractive guy speaking Russian is a huge turn-on for me. German is also beautiful, especially when sung, despite its reputation, probably earned from the association with the Nazis. And sure, I suppose I like the idea of the sound of ancient languages, like Ancient Greek (I don't care much for the sound of modern Greek), but where am I going to hear someone speaking Ancient Greek? It's one thing for me to read out lines from Homer, but it's another to hear a native speaker. I also love Latvian. As for non-European languages, I enjoy the sound of Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs, Turkish (especially when sung), and Akan, a language spoken in Ghana.
I find Welsh and Irish Gaelic to be two of the strangest sounding languages I've ever heard. Maybe that's because they have some similarities to English (in sound only), and that makes them even more bizarre (i.e. they sound like "distorted English" to my ear almost).
I speak English and Spanish fluently and enough Italian to be able to have a conversation with someone, but I personally find Russian and German to be the most beautiful sounding languages. I think it's because my father played his opera music when i was growing up and they were mostly German and Russian with some Italian every now or then.
Italian is the one I find the most beautiful, both spoken and written, but I love many languages. It's mostly because of how everything sounds nice in it, like it always ends on a vowel. I also learned to appreciate my own language more (French) since I learned English. I find it such a shame though that my dialect is pretty much considered a dirty, unsophisticated form of French, though. (In my opinion, French from France sounds hilarious, like someone trying way too hard to sound sophisticated)
I absolutely love the sound of the French language. To me, though, Spanish is the most beautiful sounding language but that's probably just because I'm learning it. I love the sound of Polish as well, and I'd love to learn it at some point, but I can't find a method of learning that I can stick to like I do with Spanish.
I agree that I don't think Russian sounds harsh at all. I think it can actually be quite cute sounding.
I may be a little biased because the countries themselves are gorgeous and brimming with profound history, but I think Italian and Greek are the most beautiful. The former for its fluid sounds without being guttural and blended like French, and the latter for being nuanced, complex, and the source of so many other linguistic bits. And like I said, it doesn't hurt that both are spoken on the shores of the Mediterranean among white cliffs and color-splashed hills. There is also something about Russian. I don't think it sounds harsh, but it does owe a lot to Greek and Latin and elicits a sort of stoic image of the speaker. I'd love to learn it someday.
Well, as a German student, I can say that it's not that bad xD It's just that the words are freakishly long and seem to be pulled out of nowhere. (Plus the syntax is absolute nonsense xD)
I don't find a specific language itself beautiful but rather accents of certain groups. I like English, German, and the Geneva region accent (people from Geneva Switzerland and the swiss like part of france)
