I've recently found a new appreciation for it and not because of Ruby Rose [I don't even know who that is]. To me, I think androgyny can be beautiful because it can provide just a clean appreciation for a person's beauty without all the trappings of gendered conventions of beauty....if that makes any sense. A man can be beautiful, a woman handsome. Hell, they can just be attractive in the purest sense of the word. I thought about this when looking at actor, Takamasa Ishihara from Unbroken. He has very delicate, almost feminine features that I couldn't help but find eye-catching even when my family simply agreed that he was "oddly" "girly" looking. But anyway, what are you all's thoughts on androgyny? Androgyny is heavily associated with being queer, but I know as a woman who prefers other femme women that they don't always go hand in hand.
I find androgyny attractive in a person. I think, for me, it's because it's not the norm, and I'm drawn to people who are a little different. It also screams confidence in your gender expression and the willingness to break conventional norms, which is always sexy.
I find secondary sexual characteristics of men very attractive. Androgyny is basically the erasure of that. Therefore, I don't find androgyny to be attractive. As an example, there is a person that works in a McDonald's at a Walmart I go to ($1 cokes :lol and the person has a nice, attractive, somewhat masculine face. The upper body is androgynous. However, this person has hips that are in no way characteristic of male hips (read: wide; not related to obesity) and it causes dissonance when I look at the person (in terms of whether or not I did such person attractive).
Same here, I find androgyny attractive. For some reason Sigourney Weaver comes to mind, and also James Spader.
Same here. My favorite androgynous model is Erika Linder. There's something about androgyny that fascinates me.
Androgyny can indeed be beautiful, but it does nothing for me sexually. It's like admiring a marble statue. There's a child-like quality to it, and that holds no interest for me. Like AlamoCity male secondary sexual attributes are what I find sexually attractive.
Yes, please. o_o Of course, my attractions aren't limited to androgynous folk, but it's always a nice change of pace when you only ever see one type of man/woman in the media.
I find androgynous men extremely attractive, personally. Women, too. I like when people differ from the social gender norms.
I love androgynous people. I'm still trying to figure out what my gender is and one of the possibilities may be androgyne.
I'm quite attracted to androgynous people. With men it's like they are elves... Women just become automatically more attractive.
Haha. I've always liked both too. James Spader was fiiiine back in the day and Sigourney Weaver was always such HBIC in the movies I saw that it was just awesome. ---------- Post added 24th Jun 2015 at 10:15 PM ---------- I can see where you guys are coming from on this. In women, I don't really appreciate androgyny as much as I do in men. I dress femme and prefer other women who dress and look femme like me. I appreciate the wider hips, narrower shoulders, and large breasts on a woman. For guys though, I often prefer the pretty boy and androgynous looks.
I find it extremely attractive in everyone. I really like the erasure of gender roles, it seems (to me at least) like a very quiet way to rebel against society's expectation of how certains genders should present.
If our bodies are temples, and some would say tattoos and piercing decorate it, androgyny to me is the most creative expression of who we are as people. There are no rules because gender is erased so however the person looks, we see the truest version of them. The aesthetics in this style are always captivating.
I don't know why, but I do find it very attractive. Maybe that's because, when I was younger, seeing gender blurred like that made me feel more comfortable, even if I didn't fully understand why. I guess it's more than just sexual attraction, for me, because it represents freedom from the gender people assume I belong to.
I find androgyny very aesthetically pleasing but I think I'm more physically attracted to feminine features
