I got a dog. Her and I become bet friends. We would go on hikes together. I taught her tricks. We were nearly inseparable.

She had a distinct personality. She would let me know (facial expressions) if she disapproved of my teasing her.

One time she caught a rabbit and was secretly eating it. Her breath smelled of dead. I would look her in the eyes and say, "you are up to something behind my back."

This is how I dealt with suppressing my sexuality.

    What's your story?

I mostly did what I do now, video games, surfing the net and writing, Through I often started engaging in many of these activities on many occasions as a way to distract myself from the thoughts I didn't want to be having.

That obviously did not work out *laughs*

Well, I wouldn't say I'm supressing my sexuality but rather pretending to be straight and cis.
I also have a dog though who helps keep me from breaking down. He's about 2 1/2 now and I've had him since he was 9 months old. He helps take my mind off how different I am and also helps me with my medical issues (he's a decent sized dog so if I get dizzy he helps me stand).

I also garden, read, draw and try to think positive.

I was going through a lot of crap around the same time I was suppressing my sexuality so I decided to learn not to feel at all and I used writing to distract myself from the thoughts that I didn't want.

I still do both but usually now just for fun or as stress management

I asked the prettiest girl in my grade out, she said yes, but that didn't seem to work on praying the gay away...

Ironically, after that I spoke to a gay friend of mine (who would eventually become my first crush) to help suppress my gay feelings, cuz I felt good listening to his problems. Altruism to some degree helps takes your mind off things... But clearly that didn't work too... Things didn't work out. Now I'm open and out in school and with friends, just not with my parents.

I do for fun what I would do otherwise. I play games, read books, write... listen to music.
The only difference is I do it a lot more than I should probably be doing it, instead of doing productive things like work.

Mostly writing. I would write scenarios all the time about being with a girl, and when people asked I would just say "It's just a character, it's not me".

Reading, tv and movies, and exercising are what keep me sane. Oh and being on EC:slight_smile:

I trained my two dogs to switch between distinct gaits on command with a combination of voice commands and cues with the leash. I also trained them to jump well. I would also go on walks with them in the woods on challenging trails. I still do.

In high school it was sports. Now it's the Army. I generally work a lot and don't have much free time, so that keeps me distracted and marginally content with my situation in life. Army fitness and working out on my own time also help. This week was slow at work though and it sucked... because I realized that without something to keep me occupied all the time, I slip right back into the depression I had before enlisting. Some of my problems have improved since joining the Army and others have gotten worse. The depression never seems to subside though, and whenever I think it's in some degree of remission, it always returns once I run low on distractions.

Well I used to hide it by simply acting like all men did around women, now that was easy for me to do since I am an actor. But as always those gay feelings snuck in no matter how hard I tried. I also only showed interest in the hottest women at school, but nothing kept the gay away.

act like a stupid macho man who is obviously acting hell i only knew how to walk like DA REAL MEN until i was 9th grade i was trying so hard to walk like DA REAL MEN so guys wont say im so gay but even with all the acting trying to be someone else i even made up stories about a girl that were never true
and i was still called gay and bullied and called a girly boy i thought i was acting way too normal like everyone else but guess when you act like someone else and not yourself people notice how uncomfortable you are with yourself and start picking on you no matter how smart you are of hiding every feeling
thats not to say there aren't macho men who act like any other straight guy but still they too were acting like they are someone else by saying and talking about certain stuff that aren't true about themselves

for fun video games sisters evening and girls talking watching horror movies again with my sisters going out for a walk again with one of my sisters making level maps for games that one is alone for sure !

I never tried to supress my sexuality, but I inevitably blended in with straight boys without even trying...

... well, I think I suppressed my gender more then sexuality, but obviously both... I played video games; Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike... yeah ^^
