SECONDED SO HARD. I remember running to the bathroom sobbing because of one part of that scene.

I think the death of Henry Tomasino in Mafia II is one of the most gruesome I've seen in games I played. Just as you became to like the character he gets butchered by the Triads.

And of course the death of the Marty and the insinuated death of Joe in the same game, "Sorry kid, Joe wasn't part of the deal".

The only other one that I still remember from the games I played is from Roman in GTA IV, but as his death can be avoided by the death of Kate I chose that option. As I had the official game guide I knew that before the mission started and I didn't like the character of Kate anyway. So I don't know if you can count that as a death.

All from Telltale's The Walking Dead: (my opinion)
    -Lee
    -Kenny (depends on choice)
    -Jane (depends on choice)
    -Carley
    -Omid (don't judge!)
-Lee's brother (though he was a zombie already it's just sad :frowning2: )
    -zombie child in attic
    -Rebecca
    -Alvin
    -Luke
    Worst of all......
SAM THE DOG!!!!!! WHY? WHY MUST THE ANIMAL ALWAYS DIE!!!!!!?????? sad for days.........

And Duck... just.... why? To love or to hate his death?

I'm definitely going to go with John Marston from Red Dead Redemption. You play through his entire story trying to redeem yourself, yet looking back at all of the dialogue you're constantly being told redemption isn't possible, and that we all pay for our sins in the end.

Sully from Uncharted 3 was pretty sad, too. Even if it was just a hallucination.

Aeris (and why is everybody saying 'aerith' not 'aeris'?) in FFVII, even though I knew it was coming, it hit me because I had to watch that cutscene 5 times because I kept on dying at the boss straight after.

Deku Buttler's son in Majora's Mask, you never see his death but you do see the aftermath, and frankly seeing the Deku Buttler discovering his son's body is too heart wrenching for words... Especially because you passed it by initially not even really registering or knowing what or who it was.... In fact you sort of feel guilty for it since one of your powers came from the Deku child's death...

    "This is good... Isn't it?"

"Aeris" was a mistranslation and her name is supposed to be "Aerith"--it was fixed in Kingdom Hearts.

Infamous 2 ending ~ either choice

Arkham city ~ joker's death, has a deeper impact every time I watch it. There is alot going on in that scene, and it's handled with the perfect amount of subtlety, and ambiguity, just like the ending of the killing joke, which rivals it for 1 of my favorite moments in the history of Batman.

While not a death scene, the optional Pay your Respects sequence, also from arkham city, is wonderfully sad in its own right.
