It's kind of funny actually. Who exactly is going to check everyone that goes into the bathroom? This bill is not only wrong, it's useless because nobody is ever going to check. (unless they want extremely embarrasing situations) Either way, it wouldn't really change much, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to get rid of this silly law. This is just a waste of everyone's time.
Do you think some creepy cis man who wants to sexually assault women in the bathroom would be stopped by a law that says he is not allowed to be there? It is already illegal to assault someone, regardless of where it happens.
Why do these politicians even act like they're doing something for the good of the people? All they're doing is legalizing even more discrimination against LGBTQ people and making up crappy excuses for it.
One suggestion: Quit supporting Republicans. Encourage others to do the same. They are the ones sponsoring and pushing these bills. I honesty can't say why any LGBT would stoop so low as to vote that way. Sorry if that sounds harsh.
Thankfully this bill died and never became law...but this Frank Artiles guy is my representative in the Florida House...and I am sure he'll attempt ro get this bill passed next year as well, and over and over until he succeeds.
"Should I wipe first?" *reaches for the toilet paper* " 'HE'S GOT A GUN!" *shoots* At least use the right pronouns... ;<;
I think that the only way this would be enforced is by complaints. If a person doesn't pass that well, that is, and a transphobic cis person notices, the cis person could complain about it and then the transgender would be fined. In other words, they are put at risk every time they go to the bathroom.
This bill is totally stupid.. Like other people said, how are they gonna check that people enter the bathroom that matches their biological sex ? The only thing I can think of, is denunciation.. Not a good thing.. And what about intersex people ?? I'm happy that my high school has gender-neutral restrooms. Once I even heard two people having sex in it :lol:
you could just have toilet cubicles separate so there unisex. That's what they have done that in my school. it eliminates all sorts of issues that transgender people would have to deal with.
I think that California one allowing trans people to use the bathroom, and even locker in schools was the opposite effect, it seems this is sadly another republican attempt at measures aimed at lgbt I guess.
Sometimes (scratch that) Most of the time, people involved in making laws that "protect citizens" make me one to throw up.
I'm going to give USA a few more years to get over it's stupidity before I pack up and flee to Canada. It's like us finally getting marriage equality stirred up a bigot anthill. It's funny how people in the "Land of the free" have suppressed basic human rights throughout history, Isn't it?
Yes, Kira, that is some quality comedy right there ._. Reminds me of a documentary I saw in History class. It was some strikes, maybe it was the hippie strikes (can't remember exactly) and it was totally peaceful and everything. But noooo, they couldn't have that. And yeah they killed many people and injured many people... "Land of the free" my teacher commented. "Home of the brave" I added.
I hope I don't have to live there again. That doesn't make Georgia any better, though. The south in general is a bottomless pit of ignorance and stupidity.
