  1. I really love East Asian food (Taiwanese, Korean, Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese) and Mexican food. I kinda sound biased because, well... look at my pictures. :roflmao:

However living in SoCal, I was very exposed to these cuisines and it even shows in my school lunches since things like burritos, orange chicken (technically it's fusion), rice balls, spam musubi, and tacos are served at my school.

No matter what country you live in, what kind of cuisine do you like?

I voted for the three that interest me most currently, Thai, Greek and Middle Eastern. All of them know how to make really healthy dishes really appealing, and Thai especially for me uses spices in a really effective way. Not so much that the spice is all you can taste (which I think is a common problem for Indian restaurants where I am), but enough so you know it's there. Hits the back of your throat, then steps aside so you can taste the next thing. And Greek and Middle Eastern both have interesting dishes and you can get really fresh tasting stuff imo- I especially love the savoury yoghurt drinks you can get.

    Well, I like:

    "Southern umbrella"
"Texas" foods (e.g. barbecue, brisket, ribs, tea); "southern" foods (e.g. cornbread, fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, fried apples, fried okra, collard greens, ham); Low Country cuisine (e.g. shrimp and grits, crawfish boils).

Tex-Mex/Mexican food: Very limited to what I like, but don't mind chips and guacamole, brisket tacos, and fajitas and onions. Pinto beans with onions, ham/bacon and cilantro are also good.

Italian: I really like Italian food in general, but it gives me indigestion. San Pellegrino is the most often consumed Italian product for me

French: I enjoy French dishes (e.g. coq au vin, escargots, croque-monsieur sans fromage , pot-au-feu).

I chose everything except Cuban because I'm not sure I've had it yet. I also left out Korean because of a bad experience at a restaurant, but I do love Japchae.

Vietnamese: Grew up with good Vietnamese food made by my mom. This makes me somewhat critical when eating Vietnamese food at restaurants that doesn't taste as good.

Japanese: Well, I haven't tried anything apart from sushi and sashimi. I guess that still counts as liking Japanese food, as those dishes are quite iconic. I love salmon or white tuna sashimi dipped in Kikkoman soy sauce with a side of gari.

Indian: My mom would probably kill me for saying this :slight_smile:lol:slight_smile:, but this is probably my favorite cuisine. I've tried food from numerous buffets and restaurants. Most of the dishes are just delicious. My taste buds go on an adventure in every bite

As an American, I eat everything. My friends always give me grief after I eat a good curry though.

And no, I'm not fat even though I love food.

I love Indian food!! I swear I could eat curried lentils and basmati rice and samosas like every day.

I also love Mexican food. Burritos are basically my go-to meal.

Japanese is good too, but much of it that I've been exposed to is fish-based, and I don't eat animals. I love a good sushi roll though, and vegetarian dumplings, when I can find them. I really hate edamame beans, but I really love tofu, especially pan fried.

Some Chinese, like sweet and sour, blackbean, satay, egg fried rice etc. Although I'm not keen on chow mein.

Indian. My options here are limited because I can't digest strong spices. Tandoori if prepared right I can sometimes get away with without incurring a bad stomachache.

Tex-Mex, but again need to watch out for those spices.

    LOVE Italian foods.

My mother is French so I have been exposed to a variety of tasty cheeses over the course of my life

Love cajun but can't find it around here yet. I mean real cajun.
"redneck"-venison, squirrel, groundhog, possum, wild turkey or boar. Yeah, I really ate this growing up. So good.

"Cooks" would be limited to Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, Greek, Italian, French, Indian, Middle Eastern, Cajun, Thai, and German.

(And I don't do more than a dish or two each of Japanese, Greek, Cajun, or German.)

So when you coming over, and what's your pick?

    ---------- Post added 16th Jan 2015 at 10:24 PM ----------

Oh! And let me add to the OP's list:

    Afghan
    Ethiopian

I adore both. I've only made one Afghan dish (Aush). But I have a reasonable range of Ethiopian...that's fun to cook and even more fun to eat!

  15. Haha, technically satay is Indonesian, but I like it too

I know right? I always secretly judge Vietnamese places if they don't make it as good as my mom. You should try Japanese desserts since they're so good and they aren't too sweet.

    ---------- Post added 16th Jan 2015 at 09:19 PM ----------

:roflmao: Whenever I eat those dishes, there's always that sense of added MSG. Sometimes, I eat Panda Express, but I have my friend who isn't Asian get it for me because it feels weird going to that place xD

Sad that Filipino cuisine isn't as popular as these but I would say East Asian cuisine.

  17. Aww I'm really sorry about that! Filipino cuisine is somewhat popular in the West coast! I love adobo. I can taste the vinegar

Thai, Greek (I love feta), and Chinese. Although I'm talking the North American version of Chinese so it probably isn't considered to be authentic.

Mexican and Chinese = Moe/Taco bell and any Chinese in town right? Even though it's Americanized?
