I just kind of came out to my best friend over Snapchat and she took it really well and we talked for like an hour. Wasn't expecting her to take it so well.

Also, just wanted to say that I sort of stalk this thread every time I log on even if I don't have a victory of my own and it helps me remember that things get better and being trans isn't a sentence to have a miserable life. Thanks, Kasey, for starting this thread!

Happy for you. And glad to have started it. We need to realize everything isn't all bad. Good things happen in trans people lives.

I think I've finally found a good gender therapist who can help me with my transition, however I have a very hard time talking on the phone so I've been trying to gather the courage to call them up and make an appointment.

Omg I know what you mean. I was, and am, the same.
Do they have a e-mail address you can use?

That was how I set up my first session with my therapist.

I also used email to contact my therapist initially. Congrats, I hope you really have found one!

I just got an email from the University today saying that they've made changes and trans* identified people can now use their preferred name in certain parts of the University and can get their gender marker changed on anything other than legal documents (of course).

    absolutely sister.(*hug*)

in fact I took this concept into my support groups, and when things get heavy I try to lighten things up with asking if anyone has a victory to share. some of the group leaders have picked up on this and have started doing it themselves.

Turned in all the paperwork and paid the fee for getting my name changed. Wasn't as expensive as I thought. Now I just wait about a week for a court date.

I came out to my group of friends last week and every one of them received it well. They all call me by my name and pronouns.

My friends are finally starting to use to correct pronouns after months of me correcting them every so often and it makes me so happy

I came out as transgender to the rest of the staff at my work that didn't know it today. They thought that I was transitioning from male to female. So, that took some explaining...lol.

I asked a few friends to call me Rae for a bit (through a group chat) because I wanted to try it and only one of them remembered but it felt really nice that she thought of it because she wasn't there when I asked and she even made sure she'd pronounced it properly.
Anyway I've decided that I'm not a Rae but it was still a small victory.
