In my New Years album, those two friends that I got a picture taken with we met on the dance floor... Where they thought I was her cousin, Amanda. I think they were both attracted to me. And the guy commented on my whole outfit being gorgeous.

    Such a validating night.

Had a friend come out to me as trans last night.

It's never the one you expect...

Not that I'm unhappy or anything. Quite the contrary.

Really? No hormones? Could have fooled me. You're really quite pretty.

Personally I haven't had any of these small victories yet. I don't know if it's because I'm too much of a bitch or if I just don't get out much due to living in the middle of the freaking forest. Although at my friends wedding, she was supposed to guess and point out some of her friends, including me, by just grabbing our asses. I was the only non-cis female and she guessed wrong on which one was me due to my ass "feeling more like a chick's ass than any of the others."

Huh, I guess I see your point. Small victories.

The TSA person at the airport sir'd me on my way home from the holidays. And I have cargo pants to they always pat down my legs and they switched to that the guy did it. While I am not male, I appreciate being sir'd occasionally since it means I'm not as obviously female and I know there is no chance random people with use gender neutral pronouns.

Just ordered my 2nd professional binder. The one I have now is one of the cheap eBay ones, which works for me because I'm so flat chested. I ordered the tri-top from underworks this time though because I've heard it's a better binder.

Oh trust me I know that feeling.

I take pride in my appearance as a female. I enjoy myself just being seen in public. I'm at peace.

    Got my first proper binder~

It's amazing. I can actually look in the mirror for once, without a shirt. I have a chest just like any other guy...

    I've never felt so comfortable

My girlfriend told me yesterday that I've gotten really handsome in the past couple months; apparently my face has "evened out" and I seem more calm and collected. It was really nice to hear.

I ended up writing a letter coming out and telling about myself which my dad sent to my entire extended family on his side. Since then, in the last 2 and a half days, I am getting nothing but a flood of emails from my relatives and it has been universally positive. Some of the highlights include:
"I saw your photos on your Dad's Facebook page and wondered who the beautiful woman was. I thought you might have been one of Ron's daughter-in-laws, I have lost track of who is who in your family and have not seen you or your brother in many years."
"Hi Alex... my niece... I just love that!! "
"I'm proud to have you as my niece. You look great and your smile says it all. It's your time now to enjoy your life to the fullest."

I've had a goofy grin and gooey feelings for days.

A few days ago, while I was walking in the park, a guy called me "sir" and asked me for directions. It was dark and I thought that this was why I managed to pass and I was very anxious about my face and voice. I kept avoiding looking him in the eyes, I was hiding my face and was trying to make my voice sound more masculine and avoided talking too much. But in the end he didn't suspect anything and I felt like this was one of the happiest moments in my life.

Suddenly, during the course of the past few days, I've been referred to as "she" and "her" by some people I know. They know I'm trans (GSA is not included in my out status), but I don't even look remotely female except for my rather thin build, so the first time was a shock (although not an unpleasant one); but I quickly got used to it and liked it. That just made my day. (Now if only they would call me Ashley instead of Dakota... )

My first real binder arrived in the mail today! It's actually sort of too large though it hide my chest well enough with a baggy shirt. Just ordered a smaller sized one and waiting for it to ship

My walls have been pink ever since I was a little kid. I've never liked it, but lately it's really been starting to bug me, but my mom just told me we were going to paint my walls blue this weekend. Kind of dumb to get excited about, but it made me happy.
