No, you're not a virgin, and your roommate is also not a virgin. She's insulting her partner by implying she somehow 'doesn't count'. Not to insult her because she probably doesn't know, but sex is sex regardless of the genders involved. For example, if she broke up with her partner and found a boyfriend, would she say that 'her boyfriend is the first significant other she's ever had and she's never been in a relationship before him?' Because that's basically the same thing. It implies that women can't be a real 'first' because we're women, and I would be so insulted if an ex said that to me. It's nothing more than pure sexism, plain and simple.

Also, I've always wondered...why does the virgin thing only apply to lesbians? Because if you follow 'technical virginity' men who sleep with men are also still virgins because they haven't been with women (many straight girls have anal sex and call themselves virgins for example). But no one says this to them for some reason.

Same with marriage. Is she against gay marriage because the definition technically means 'Only between a man and a woman?' I find it so odd that people get worked up over 'traditional marriage' being homophobic, but yet they don't see how homophobic their perceptions of virginity are.

 

Actually, now that you bring it up, you should know that my ex eventually walked out on me to marry a guy.

And well, she does think that shez a virgin because she never had "sex" sex, you know what I mean here.

LMAO there's no such thing as 'sex sex'. ANY form of genital touching = sex. Or else I guess that if a man penetrates her ass or mouth without her consent then it doesn't count as sexual abuse and she has no right to report him or complain? Because that's pretty much what she's saying. Whenever you touch genitals (including oral sex and handjobs) you are medically considered 'sexually active'. And some lesbians have sex with men and still call themselves virgins because they think 'penetration by a penis' is foreplay and not real sex, so It's subjective. Saying that there needs to be penetration by an actual penis to make it count as 'sex' sex is MISOGYNY.

I'm sorry you went through that, a lot of women in general make terrible partners (in my experience)
