Yay Pretty cool outfits. One of the things I really like about these peace officers is that they look so approachable. I also think there's something about their uniforms that make me think "here's a person who I can ask for him" and less "oh no, please don't kill me! "
Cease this now, or I'll Finnish you. For those who don't know; I'm actually Finnish, so the joke isn't as bad or irrelevant as it could be, even if it is among the worse (though we are derailing the thread, so I'll actually post something relevant) -- I do think that the attitude behind the police in Iceland is a lot nicer. First, their role is most certainly not designed to intimidate ordinary people. Second, it's very good that they're portrayed (and I trust are) an integral part of the community, not an outside force. That helps build trust, and might just encourage people to go to police when they need to; an intimidating police force is not going to have the confidence of victims of crime. A public campaign of friendliness is so refreshing in a police force. It might be useful to adopt that elsewhere. ---------- Post added 20th Sep 2014 at 01:57 PM ---------- As opposed to? ---------- Post added 20th Sep 2014 at 01:57 PM ---------- I'm sorry, you nerd.
The animals in the pictures . There are four of them. (Yeah, ignore this). I think criminality is lower in Iceland than in other countries. That's the reason why the police can allow themselves to be so nice. However, it is true that a friendlier attitude would be possitive when they deal with ordinary people.
As opposed to the kids. I thought that was extremely inappropriate comment from the user, but whatever...
I didn't mean the kids. But it may have sound inappropriate. Sorry. I can't delete the comment right now. All I can do is to apologise.
The options were peace officers, kids, or animals. So a remark like that has 100% chance of being rude. It's either saying Aussie is into bestiality or is a pedophile... I realize you were probably trying to be funny more than anything, but it's good to be more... aware of what you're posting, and why you're posting it.
You're absolutely right. I made a mistake and once I read it I realised I was being rude. That wasn't my intention at all, but it was unappropriate. I am extremely sorry.
Hey, don't worry about it. Anyway, I also really like this lady on the left. She seems like another approachable, happy individual.
I've become more wary of Iceland, of late, since I heard a horror story of racism there from an Indian acquaintance of mine. Outside of that, though, all the accounts I've heard make it seem like such a lovely place - this one included! Anyhow... Awh, look at the adorable Icelandic kitten!
Iceland, the country which has produced Sigur Rós and now these peace officers If it wasn't for the angry volcanoes I'd be hopping on the first plane that will take me there.
