A lot of bigoted and stupid comments proceed from these words. What are some of the most annoying, outrageous, and stupid comments you've heard people say immediately after they claim they have nothing against gay people?

I've also noticed that similar statements tend to precede racist and sexist remarks as well.

There's a guy in my college courses who's openly homophobic. I hear any number of these statements on a weekly basis.

    1. I feel sorry for them.
    2. I wish they'd keep it to themselves.
    3. I wish they'd stop complaining about inequality.
    4. They make me uncomfortable.
    5. They're all so confused.

Moonhammer, I'm a Christian and I've never said that. I believe homosexuality is completely natural. Please don't generalize.

It's hard not to generalize when the bible is against homosexuality.

Yeah, it's like anything preceded by, "I'm not homophobic/sexist/racist, but...." it's always something that sounds homophobic/sexist/racist. And, in fact, it probably is.

One I've heard a lot is, "I'm not homophobic, but I wouldn't want to be in a public restroom the same time as so-and-so." Don't flatter yourselves, guys. When we're in the bathroom, we're there for the same reason anyone else is: To make fucking excrement, not to rape people like some restroom stall equivalent of a bridge troll. Cool your ass, straight people. Everybody poops.

"I'M NOT RACIST, BUT -extremely racist thing-"

    every. damn. time.

"I've got nothing against gay people, BUT -something against gay people-"

    works the same way.

basically if you have start off your sentence with a disclaimer it is not a good statement, to make, to people

"i have gay black friends, and i have nothing against gays or blacks, BUT-" well there u go, u just said a thing against them, congrats.

It's funny how most if not all homophobes can't get a single argument against homosexuality without throwing religion in the mix.

Oh my gosh, I know! And it seems like people will easily admit they have something against trans people because we're so messed up we think we're the opposite sex or whatever it is that they say. Actually had to tell off one of my coworkers for saying that he wouldn't want a trans woman in a public restroom with his wife/girlfriend/daughter/other female relative.

As with anything else: If you can't tell, does it even matter?

I hear #2 all the time, and what really annoys me about it is that 99.9% of the time they're applying a different standard for mixed-sex couples.

"I'm perfectly fine with gay people, as long as they don't touch me" - a very religious person I know. He thinks that all gay people do is molest kids x.x

The one that always gets me is: "I have nothing against gay people, I just wish they would stop shoving it down my throat."

But straight people do it every single day without realizing it . "I'm going to my girlfriend's recital" "My boyfriend gave me this" "My girlfriend really wants me to crash at her place tonight".

I heard this from a particular brand of idiot:

"I can understand two girls going at it, but I just don't understand two guys doing it"

"I nothing against gay people but what if one of us were secretly gay and we have to share tents that would just be weird." Said someone in my group for a school camp at the end of this year.

"I have nothing against lesbians, but I just wouldn't want them to see me getting changed so they should have a different room or something." Said Girls last year at the pool changing room.

"I have nothing against non-straight people but what you and your friend are doing looks a bit lesbian-ish." Said a girl at the pool changing rooms when me and a friend were in the huge communal shower.

"Nothing against gays but I don't really want other females looking at me, I only like guys doing that." Says girls from my school.

"I am not homophobic or whatever but how can gay guys not like me or any other gorgeous girls?"

    Being in high school sucks.

I guess some people can only understand if it's a turn on for them.

"I have nothing against Gay people but I don't think they should be able to hold hands or kiss in public. It's weird."

"I have nothing against Gay people but to me it just seems stupid. There are ways to make people become straight, right? Like phycology and stuff. So why not just do that? It'd be easier for everyone."
