While searching LGBT themes in horror genre found this site/list and wanted to share it. Not a big horror movie fan myself. However this list contains many interesting info... at least for me. Enjoy.
Suspence/Thrillers yes. Slashers no they are usually predictable and and usually I wander why the people find a friend dead and instead of getting the hell outta there, they go looking for the creature that killed them.
I assume the movie would be cut short. I'd be kind of irked if a Friday the 13th movie went like this: Camper #1: Aaaah! Dead body! Camper #2: Should we run back into the cabin and trap ourselves in a corner? Camper #1: No way, we're getting out of here! *Jason can only watch as the car drives off. Roll credits.* But to answer this question, I do enjoy Horror movies. Especially from the 70s and 80s.
Slashers your way to enlightenment about Holywood casting. Last one standing was keeping Director's bed warm. That is a joke of course. I prefer any slasher flick over gore. At least slashers give you something to laugh about. Movies like Saw series... just disgusting not even scary at all.
Many people think a scary movie is about gore, at least around here. Movies like Saw and Hostel have really turned scary movies into gross-outs. I miss the days of tension and implied horrors. The imagination can often times trump what special effects can do, in my opinion.
Other than that, in my opinion those gore movies lack imagination. I mean even it doesn't give me chills, I like the idea behind Nightmare on the Elm Street or Dracula... even the stupid monster movies. I can understand what you say about special effects. I watched Case 39 recently. Movie was very good until those special effects rolled in. Suddenly movie become a joke. While talking about scary here is another list/thread from reddit. Be wary tho, those are mostly real events and, at least for me, highly disturbing accounts among them.
My favorite movie genre, even the predictable slashers.. watch with some friends and laugh at how horrible it is
Aha, I enjoyed their interpretation of Hellraiser - strangely, I've always come to a similar conclusion regarding their leather and pleasure/flesh themes.
No, I'm too much of a scaredy cat as I get really into the emotions of a movie. But, I'm also very inquisitive, so I sometimes take peeks.
I love them, but I'm so bad at them. I see myself as fairly capable and brave in normal life, but when horror movies get the atmosphere going, my helpless pansy side comes out XD I need somebody's hand to hold.
absolutely love em My favorite horror film ever is Halloween (JC not Rob Zombie) Every Halloween I start DVRing horror films and have myself a festival
The original Halloween is a masterpiece. Halloween 3 was awful, a disgrace. I mean... Ugh. Season of the witch? Had nothing to do with mike Meyers.
Horror is my favorite genre for pretty much everything. I'm really picky though. The only movie that ever legit scared me was Fire in the Sky. I think I was 11 at the time. My favorite is John Carpenter's The Thing.
