I've noticed a lot of people on here seem to like Metal Music and Anime, what most people would consider Nerdy. I've got no problem with it, but is there a reason why?
Personal preference and the fact that most people re young here? I like metal, but can't stand anime unless it's abridged, such as Team Four Star's Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
yeah I don't consider metal nerdy at all...quite the opposite. I am not a metal fan...it's just terrible yelling and grunting voices to me Anime though...yeah I love it
"I'll be your mommy!" Perhaps it has something to do with being different. I mean I know one of the things that drew me towards anime was that I felt different to everybody else and a lot of the themes some of the shows covered spoke to me in a way other forms of entertainment didn't, even if I didn't know what it meant at the time. Same with metal...I've seen metal fans take in the most outcast people I've ever met, you bond over your difference and get some music out of it...
I have noticed that many people here (perhaps because of the various ways their likes are voiced) like Dr. Who and anime. Those are the two things I have mostly seen here. I personally am not a fan of either, but I can see why many like it
Preach! After watching the abridged version of Yu-Gi-Oh, I can't watch the original series anymore. The jokes in abridged series makes me laugh so much
I dislike Anime too, but am fascinated by metal and its many eclectic sub-genres. Whatever similarity you may be drawing could be attributed to the fact that both the metal and anime subcultures are not part of the mainstream, so they share a common step in the social ladder.
Because cool people like those things. I'm actually not big on metal at all (and honestly can't see why there's such a hubbub about it) but they are usually niche interests that people can easily bond over.
*shrugs* It's probably a lot of coincidence. I'm more into Jrock though... Especially the gothic bands. Although my anime interest... Well I've always been an otaku. It's my autistic obsession. I own mountains of manga, anime, and collectibles. I do think maybe because anime and manga offers good glbt material? I adore boy's love and such. Plus anime is just popular these days because a lot of these people grew up watching Pokemon and toonami on TV.
I can't stand anime and I'm not big on metal actually. I also never really got the sense that metal was nerdy.
