Ha, I really actually don't like Queen, at all. Not saying they aren't talented, just really don't like that type of generic rock. Freddie also seems more like border-line transgendered, and not just gay, so I don't really look at him as a "gay" role model, more than just a talented musician that I don't like. So the first thing that comes to mind is Bohemian Rhapsody, which I think is actually one of the most annoying songs out there. Overplayed, over enjoyed, over used, and I don't like it's schizophrenic demeanor. I know that's the definition of a Rhapsody, but I guess I don't like this one. It's just not really a good relaxing, driving, or partying song, it's so out there that it's almost like a complete joke when people are singing along to it ...etcetera. I think it's a good song for like a Movie soundtrack, or like a Play or some kind of musical, just not something I'd wanna listen to on a daily basis. There are plenty of talented people I can't stand but know they are talented and have contributed positively, it's just not my definition of "ear candy".
The first thing I think of is a tribute concert I went to last year. Not only did the vocalist sound and look exactly like Freddy, he was also either gay or really dedicated to convincing people he was Freddy. Halfway through the concert (by which time he was already really sweaty) he ripped his shirt off, started suggestively flirting with guys in the front of the audience, and said (and I quote) "There's a full moon out tonight, everybody... AND IT'S MINE!" and he nearly did pull his pants down.
His mention in a song by Craig Finn, of the Hold Steady: "By the way that you picked up the phone I could tell that you weren't gonna die February is about as long as it is wide I guess I've been pretty good with it Trying hard not to get too obsessed with it I guess I shouldn't have been surprised I guess I was pretty much prepared for it I was just stuck in my own sense of time Rigid and depressed, needy, halfway pissed and resigned The parking lots and the office talk They punch my card at the coffee shop I'm pretty sure we're all gonna die I'm pretty sure we're all gonna die I suppose you thought that I'd be shaken up I suppose you thought I'd be gushing blood Not true I only died on the inside I suppose you thought that I'd be taken out Back behind one of those bars downtown Not true I'm still alive on the outside Good old Freddie Mercury is the only guy that advises me This time, he said if you can't beat them join them I've been reading about Calvary The crucifixion still gets to me I guess Golgotha means the mount of execution The best advice that I've gotten was from good old Johnny Rotten He said God Save The Queen He said no future for you No future for me I suppose you thought that I'd be eaten up By the bars or the pigs or the sheep or the studs I'm alive Except for the inside I suppose you thought that I'd be the first one to go By the bars or the pigs or the sheep or the shows I'm alive Except for the inside But I don't know nothing Except for the one thing for certain The devil is a person I met him at the Riverside Perkins Bedsheets for curtains One thing's for certain The devil is a person I met him at the Riverside Perkins Bedsheets for curtains..."
