I vote exactly how one would expect a 26-year-old LGBT Jewish grad student from the West Coast to vote.
I took a test, I side with democrats about 80%. In case anyone is wondering, you can take this test to find out. 2014 Political Quiz
Independent. On some issues I vote to the left of the aisle and on others to the right. With political candidates, I just see who spews the least bull:***:. Actually, Libertarian ideals might be the best way to describe it. Although, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who studied economics and has a different stance.
Conservative libertarian. If given the choice, I'd usually vote Republican or, well, Libertarian. I'll vote for the party spewing the least B.S. and right now that's the Libertarians. I'm right wing because it's the right way!
Far left, because the right has become racist, homophobic, destructive to wildlife and the environment, greedy, and overly religious, attempting to enforce their narrow version of morality.
Centre-left, but I'd be considered far-left by a lot of people who haven't actually experienced socialist politics.
See, this is the thing that I don't like about some left wingers. Not all republicans are so bad. Conservatism is simply a different view point about how to run a government, I may not agree with it, but the way you described it is simply misleading. My step dad is a republican and he's nothing like how you described.
Some things I'm very left on and some things I'm very right on. I wouldn't call myself center though. I'm probably more conservative in general than most people on here.
Sorry, there. I agree, not everyone in the party is like that, though as a whole, I see them supporting policies that tend in these directions. There may not be a direct personal component.
I hope this doesn't get into a big argument, but just look at the Republican governing policies, not just the voters, because no matter what the voters believe, the policies may extend well beyond what the voters strictly want. And also realise that conservatism (if defined as support for the status-quo) in a lot of issues is inherently racist/sexist, destructive etc. Not all Republicans are bad, but the movement in general is absolutely awful. And how to run a government isn't a simple matter; you can be wrong about how the world should be run and how people should be treated.
I'm one of those centre lefties Fox News/MSNBC warn you about. Fox News don't like me because I'm a lefty and MSNBC doesn't like me because I'm not left wing enough.
Center, by Quebec standards. Actually, probably center-right. Taxes are insanely high (like, you can't,imagine) the nanny-state wants to forbid us from wearing "ostentatious religious symbols" (Charter of Values), and wants to make it legal for doctors to do harm (euthanasia). Yeah, I'm probably right-wing compared to this crap...
My spread would put me in the center. IMO anyone who is purely left or right is missing 50% of the good ideas. Republicans can be frothing backwards idiots, and Democrats can be frothing sideways idiots. I'll advise anybody that government is about seeing ALL perspectives and refining your choice to be the most unbiased and effective combination possible. ^^That is how I got to be pro-gun, pro-choice, anti-Obamacare, and anti-military proliferation.* I say that last part very carefully, because I love our military to death. But you can have too much of a good thing.
I'm pretty much a moderate, but lean conservative. I am conservative on economic policies/spending, and more liberal on social issues (though, not all).
