If we can keep them limited to, say, one new thread a few per month, it should be ok. Other than that, we'll end up having a "First Thoughts on East Timor thread soon."
I like them, but in moderation! So long as they don't crowd out everything else, fine. Maybe they should make a separate 'first thoughts' part of the forum, if too many such threads start to take over, and spread, like the blob!
Theoretically it's a good thing, after all it gives a valuable opportunity to learn something and correct any misunderstandings we will inevitably have about different places. Of course we have to realise that most of us due to time limitations and other things in our life will just make an initial post and never return to the thread thus making it an exercise in post-count boosting.
Nothing, just that I picked one of the newest little countries (not counting South Sudan) for fun . Not as well known in America, though I'm sure Aussies and the rest of the world have heard of it . Americans "generally" suck at geography.
They're nice. They let me know about one's preconceived thoughts about something, but I'm the one to blame since I revived the idea.
I'm not sure why some people seem pissed off about them, don't see them really hurting anyone. I've been too lazy to put my thoughts in one yet but I havent got a problem with them or something
It was fun when it started but I ignore all new 'first thoughts' threads these days. It's either that, or making witty remarks no one would appreciate. So yeah, ignoring them seems like the better option.
Given I have just posted on four in the last five minutes, I suspect them of being dangerously addictive! Actually, make the five if you count this one!
-I'm cool with it. -Not a big deal. -Can't believe people are getting angry about this. -Keep it in moderation, and things will be fine. -We could make a subsection for this kind of thing, don't you think?
