Hey I love country music but for some people think it's a straight thing. Although I met gay people saying that they love country, in this case women singers but kinda men singers too. So is it a gay thing listening to country music?
I'm a lesbian and I LOVE country music with a passion. Luke Bryan, Kip Moore, Brad Paisley, Billy Currington, Keith Urban, Tim McGcraw... I love it. (Not a Blake Shelton fan though) Totally not just a straight thing. Girls can like boobs and music with some twang
There are many of us who are gay, and like country. Enough that there is a chain of gay country nightclubs called Charlies. They have clubs in Denver, Phoenix, and Las Vegas that I know of. Also Chely Wright, and Steve Grand are country singers who have come out as gay as well.
I think country music is good if it dosent have high pitched "heeeeeeeeeee heeeeee" after evrey word...
Eh. Not really a fan. I don't really listen to folk or bluegrass, either. However, if the song is good, I will gladly listen to it.
"I don't really listen to folk or bluegrass, either." You're missing out on the banjo! The king of instruments!
I like some country music - like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, The Band Perry. They're not too country, though. I like folk, too!
Not to mention anyone who can seriously play a bluegrass instrument is a serious panty dropper if you'll pardon the expression
I don't think it's a straight thing, but it seems that even those who are LGBT and come from areas with a strong country music preference seem to prefer pop music over country. Again, I say "it seems." I personally love country music. Plus, it's a male dominated genre, so that in itself can make it seem very "macho." However, for gay men, that is actually a plus. Have you seen Luke Bryan's butt in jeans ? Also, oddly enough, I don't like that many female singers, though it can be partially attributed by their relatively small numbers (although I do like Carrie Underwood and Loretta Lynn). My favorite artists include: Turnpike Troubadour, Old Crow Medicine Show, Randy Rogers Band, Josh Abbott Band, Casey Donahew Band, Josh Turner, Dierks Bentley, Corb Lund (from Canada), Rodney Atkins, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, George Jones, Bart Crow, Paul Eason and many, many more. I don't like every singer's song, but many of their songs fill my iPhone. Like itsonlyrelative, I'm not a fan of Blake Shelton. I liked his earlier album with "Ol' Red," "Some Beach" and "Austin." But now, I really dislike his songs. They seem to fill a checklist of "most redneck things to say" just for the heck of it. His song "Boy's 'Round Here" makes me want to rip my ears apart. This is one of my favorite songs:
I like Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood too, but I didn't mention them on here because some people don't consider them "real" country artists.
This is pretty much the stuff I listen to. George Strait is the king. I'm not much of a fan of Nashville country (except for a few that you named), but Texas/Red Dirt is where it's at. Also Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Eli Young Band and Whiskey Myers. Unfortunately I don't think any of the radio stations around here are aware of anything outside of the mainstream, contemporary "hits." Thank god for Pandora.
Haha, yes, I stream from an iTunes radio station I made (Texas country) or stream from a radio station called 95.9 FM "The Ranch." I'm actually listening to "Lonely East TX Nights" by Whiskey Myers now. Glad to find someone here who has very similar music tastes .
I love country music. It's the stuff I've listened to since before I can remember. My friends get mad because when their in my car, they're forced to listen to it.
