I read this when Byron originally posted it, and I thought it was so great.

Also, I just wanted to note for all my trans* and genderqueer brothers out there that I would totally date them. So it's not like nobody wants you. (*hug*)

"And I was a little squicked at first. But he really liked it. And I really liked him. So I got over it."

Honestly, that line sounds like something out of an ex-gay leaflet.

I liked it and it's a good explanation honestly.

Yeah, I first saw this on Tumblr and while I do have a few nitpicks, overall can't help but love it. Gives me hope I've got a decent chance of not dying alone.

Aww that was awesome! Inspired me to check out some of his other comics too. I rather liked this one Man Enough, pages 1 & 2 on a similar note to the first one.

So does the other dude have a penis or a vagina? And if he underwent hormonal therapy (pre-testosterone, post-testosterone) how come he didn't undergo gender re-assignment as well since I think they're all done collectively?

I don't get what's going on in that comic but nice! I think. (uneducated about trans)

    1. It's not gender reassignment, it's bottom surgery or gentinal reconstruction

    2. Many transguys don't do bottom surgery because of the lack of decent options out there. (In short- the main surgical methods; metoidioplasy and phalloplasy; don't give one a perfectly functioning penis) and some guys are okay with or like their vaginas.

    3. Transition isn't "all done at once" at the magical gender factory. It's an individual process, the direction of which depending on what a person feels would make them feel at home in their bodies. For example, one may undergo HRT (hormone replacement therapy), top surgery (masectomy) and bottom surgery while another may simply have top surgery, or another person may choose not to physically transition at all. But it certainly doesn't invalidate their identity no matter what they decide to do.

Is there a reason the gay guy is wearing a Nine Inch Nails shirt? Is that some kind of stereotype I don't know about?

I love the comic. It was especially funny, because I could really identify with it, as a gay guy who has had crushes on transmen as well. It pretty accurately sums up my feelings on the subject, especially the ending. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don't think there's a reason to be that negative about it.

I mean, many of us probably don't like every single thing about people with our preferred type of bodies, anyway. For my part, although I love other people with male bodies, I'm not very excited at all about semen, for example. I get "squicked" out by it...

I don't think it really invalidates who these transmen are, and I think that this is just about one of the most respectful things that can be written.

I would totally date a trans* guy. I couldn't care less what gender someone was born as, as long as I'm dating a guy. Or maybe someone genderfluid. I would also dat a genderfluid person, too.
