Thats about right, i identify myself as a democratic socialist that believes in a strong state as well as liberty. Im an SNP member, and theres alot of socialists, as well as right wing members. I think if independence comes arround, the SNP will fragment and we will see a resurgence of the SSP or something similar. The SNP is a convenient but uneasy marriage of opinions that want independence. Its not a long term hegemon in scotland by any means.
 I'm pulling away from the herd, too. My opinion on individualism and freedom has only grown stronger over time, it seems. (And it isn't all that shocking to me, really.) Out of curiosity, which do you consider worse: economic inequality or social authoritarianism? We're not that far apart it seems, though I don't identify as a communist. I think I'm so far to the left economically due to my very strong anti-authoritarian positions. I dislike large and powerful corporations almost as much as I dislike large and powerful governments. Everything for me comes down to individual liberty and personal freedom. When powerful corporations begin to intermix with a powerful government it's a recipe for authoritarianism and a suppression of individual liberty.
Brain... does not... compute. I honestly couldn't tell you. I don't really identify as a communist. An anarcho-communist yes, but pure communism is authoritarian and opposed to my anarchist ideals.
When I last took it I got Left/Libertarian Economic Left/Right: -3.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.00
ehhh 'true communism' - i assume by that you mean marxist communism or whatever - is stateless, just like anarcho-communism
I have taken this test multiple times and I've always been within the first square near the center. Twice the bottom left side and twice bottom right.
Economic Left/Right: -8.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.38 Well, that's my Political Compass score...but I don't think it is necessary accurate to try to group people politically using spectra like that. I generally identify as a left-libertarian or left-conservative in the spirit of Norman Mailer; I have sympathies with anarchism, particularly of the individualist variety. Pragmatically speaking, in terms of voting I generally support American progressives or liberals over right-wingers; I'm registered Green and usually vote Green, though sometimes I vote Democratic or Working Families if it's an especially bad Republican. However I come up with my own opinions on each issue by the merits, I don't let any label entirely define me (same as with my LGBTQ identity ) ---------- Post added 6th Jul 2013 at 03:40 PM ---------- Today socialists are pretty universally on the right side of LGBTQ issues (though there are still some exceptions who view it as a "bourgeois" distraction of an issue). But historically socialists on the authoritarian side of the spectrum have been pretty bad on LGBTQ issues, like Che Guevara.
According to the poll, I'm Left/Libertarian. In practice, I'll vote for the party that supports LGBT rights.
I'm useless at politics and had to look a lot of these things up as I went along, but I ended up with: Economic Left/Right: -4.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.69 ...which is about what I would expect.
Economic Left/Right: -6.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.72 How do I put up a chart like everyone else?
