I thought it`d be great with a thread where people can post motivational, uplifting or otherwise positive quotes, memes or small stories.

    Enjoy!

Here`s a few from me, more will surely follow :icon_wink

It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.

    ― André Gide, Autumn Leaves

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
    Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
    Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
    Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

    ― Mother Teresa

To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded.
    ― Bessie Anderson Stanley

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.
    ― George Bernard Shaw

And finally, a fun one, try to take it from the LGBT angle, lol!

It's exceptionally juvenile but it made me smile.

Thats my favorite. Unfortunately, people often think money is success instead.

It makes me smile for starters. So yes.

It's wrong, though. Shoot for the moon and even if you miss you will land among stars -- the universe is big, and there are stars in every direction, and stars will pull you in.

It will just take a while.

    A looong while.

Not necessarily. You could miss the moon, and if your traveling fast enough, I imagine you could make it into intergalactic space, and never hit another galaxy due to the expansion of the universe.

I love how this has become a discussion about cosmology and gravitational physics . That's very true, though chances are eventually you would hit a star because space is infinite and inertia must be conserved .

Well, what transportation are we talking about here? Bare body? Floating in a space suit? Floating spaceship? Unfeasibly well-powered rocket?

Only the last two aren't going to either instantly explode or eventually disintegrate before it hits a star other than our sun. And even with a floating ship or powered rocket, the likelihood of it surviving wear-and-tear before hitting a star other than our own is rather debatable, no? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    *Ahem*
Long story short, sarcastic motivation is awesome... XD

Evora, I thought they were great! Especially the middle one. It`s a tad aggressive, but it brings out the point. The chances of any one of us being "the weird only one who" is insanely small with that many people crowding one planet. There`ll always be someone else who agrees with, likes the same as, is like, etc, as you

But better to get hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie.”

    ― Khaled Hosseini

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
    ― Margaret Mead

You cannot find peace by avoiding life.
    ― Virginia Woolf

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
    ― John Lennon

    And my favorite of these:

My experience of life is that it is not divided up into genres; it’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you're lucky.”

    ― Alan Moore
