Revealed: the hate-filled face of UKIP in Scotland | Herald Scotland So, gay people are hetrophobes trying to destroy society? This party is an absolute joke, yet it won 24% of votes in the english council elections. How its is acceptable to claim that you can cure "queer" people through PE lessons and compare gays to child abusers in the mainsteam media is beyond me. Just thought i should highlight the evil of this party, it seems to me they fly under the radar too much to be honest. Ukip's Nigel Farage mobbed by protesters in Edinburgh
UKIP is just a bunch of Closet racists and homophobes. They are the BNP in suits. They have likes to the E/S/WDL , BNP and other groups. Its just a protest vote, I wouldn't worry their votes are only a result of CON/LAB/LIB incompetence, next General Election they will be a non-entity.
I didn't make it to the protest as it was a bit short notice but it was organised by the progressive Radical Independence campaign. Farage went on to accuse the protesters as "anti-English" despite the fact that the Radical Independence campaign's spokesperson is English as were many of the protesters. In reality those protesters were shouting "No racist, sexist, homophobic parties in Scotland". "Immigrants are welcome".
The SNP are not as Liberal as they would have you believe, In respect to Homophobia there are hardly any better than the Tories. One of their main backers is Sir Brian Souter, the head of Stagecoach (the bus company) was trying to get the SNP to Oppopse (Yes oppose) the repeal of Section 28 (The Thatcher era act that made it forbidden for Schools, the Media etc to "encourage homosexuality") north of the Border. Salmond almost sold out his beliefs, he couldn't seem to choose between their donors (so selling out) or his own shakey morals, the party nearly ripped itself to peaces. Souter still campaigns against LGBT rights and stuff, its to the point where we refuse to use Stagecoach coaches and stuff to go to pride in Carlisle and stuff like that. Plus recently Salmond has been close to ExCardianal O-Brien who was so homophobic he thought that the preists in the seminary were erm women :-S All I am saying is the SNP are not Liberal, they are no better than the Tories and some of their members opposition to Gay Marriage draws parallels with the likes of UKIP The SNP
Yes, I understand the SNP are fairly broad church with some members being socially liberal and some being socially conservative but the Radical Independence is made up of Scottish Greens, Socialists and people in no parties.
To my understanding the motion is to prevent churches or ministers (primarily catholic as the church of scotland is relatively liberal on the issue) being taken to court over refusing to perform a same-sex marriage. Gay marriage will be legalised, once legal technicalities can be resolved as far as im aware. I think thats perfectly fair. It would be unfair to force people to go against their religious beliefs. The bit about Keith O'Brien is rubbish. There have been numerous fallings out over the subject of gay marriage, with the scottish government trying to make a concensus to move forwards. Alex Salmond praised him when he resigned to try to sway catholic voters towards independence.
I didn't say anything about making people go against their religious beliefs. Please don't put words in my mouth. Also the opinion polls are showing 2/3rds in favour in Scotland, Two thirds of Scots support same sex marriage So there is no real mandate to do any of this farting around, hence my beliefs the SNP are out of touch and no real leadership, Salmond thinks he is some king or something Well there is the opt-in system in the rest of the UK (except NI but meh) that Scotland isn't really interested in for some reason, the SNP idea is strangely different. I don't think the religious crowd should really be involved in it that much, they don't have to marry people if they don't want to and marriage is a civic matter nowadays, you can go to a registry office get married with no mention of God or anything, but try to get married in a Church without the legal paperwork you can't. There is too much influence from unelected people in Scotland, I live in Ireland and there is more support for gay marriage over here than Scotland. Only a couple of minor parties are opposed to it, and the religious people are loosing the arguments. There isn't that debate in Scotland, it ends up with people making claims about "religious freedom" despite that having noting to do with gay marriage. What is unacceptable is the SNP once considering to drop the plan to remove Section 41 from the books based on the views of a bigoted donor. The SNP are no better than the Westminster parties in my beliefs. Also O'Brien is crossing the line, he is trying to make it into a religious issue. This is just unacceptable, most people will hopefully notice that,
That's just it though, these types always think the way to "cure" gay sexual desire is to force kids to engage in activities with blatantly homoerotic subtexts. If they wanted to do something like that to me at that age, I'd of said "well, it didn't work, but try, try again..." :icon_bigg I can see it in their literature now, "gay children aren't responding to our 'treatments', we'll have to double our efforts." But yeah, they're basically monsters. The only thing that can be done about them is to keep reporting the outrageous things they're saying and hope people have enough sense not to vote for them again.
