Personally I wouldn't use a name that's similar to my previous one... I feel like alot of the people it would be making things easiest on could use it as a way to just ignore the other changes in how you want to be perceived. Like you said, it's a reminder for both of you that could make it harder to move on. You could always make your middle name Kylie if you decide against it as a first? Anyway, those are my thoughts, but pick one that you like.
Kylie is getting a good response ! Thank you for your input (*hug*) ---------- Post added 15th Apr 2013 at 12:54 PM ---------- Haha, I have too many firsts, I need to start putting them in order ---------- Post added 15th Apr 2013 at 12:56 PM ---------- I guess that is the biggest thing in choosing, I mean I like the name Kylie but not sure of how it will affect me down the road yah know. Decisions decisions :bang: ---------- Post added 15th Apr 2013 at 12:57 PM ---------- Uncommonly common :roflmao: lol
That's similar to my thougths. If you want to keep the family connection of your given name, you've got the middle space. As for the first name, hard to pick from those. I'd consider how people are going to shorten your name - many will reduce a longer name to one syllable even if you refer to yourself by your full name. Samantha is lovely but could end up as Sam, for example. (I personally dislike the short version of my name and instead tell people to use a different, shorter nickname.) I like using my intials, so that's something else to consider. I used to know someone with the initials KKK - she was in a rush to get married to someone with a different last initial.
Yeah I really like Samantha , I don't mind Sam but not crazy about it. And initials aren't a big deal unless its something like KKK
I like Kylie too. The other names I heard so often, it's like every other kid is named that way. You could go for something foreign and quite unique, but you might end up with something that sounds like a name for a drag queen or people don't know how to pronounce it... I might be the only one that absolutely hates Kristen. Its sounds harsh. A name for a real bitchy character. Also, it will probably soon be "Kris" and you'll have a boys name again anyway.... I like flower names like Lilly, Rose, Jasmine. They are not at all unique, but they sound soft and feminine. But hey, I'm just a small town boy. You can also name yourself after someone you admire....
Thank you Boyfriend (haha first time I've ever said that )! That was something I hadn't thought of yet, kristen is a bit harsh, and could be shortened to kris. Feminine and soft sounds good to me. Thank you small town boy!(*hug*)
This site is one of a few that show popularity by year for each gender. (I put in Kylie as an example.) Kylie - Popularity of Kylie, How Popular Is the name Kylie?
As a girl, I am so grateful that my parents gave me a respectable name. I can recall at least a dozen times in which it was referred to as "regal." From my experience, your name plays a huge role in your life. If you're an employer choosing between two candidates with identical credentials, are you going to hire Elizabeth or Brandii-Lynn? Be unique, but not too unique. Your name is, or should be, a permanent mark. There's no shame with having a conventional name and having your personality show through other traits.
Kelly and Kylie sound nice. Kelly- War, Lively, Aggressive (Gaelic), Warrior(American,Irish), Wood (Scottish). Kylie- Victorious (Gaelic,Scottish), Strait, Channel, Narrow (Irish), a Wood or a Church (Yiddish,American). Michelle- Gift from God. Stephanie- Crown, Victorious (French), Crown in victory (Greek,American). Ashley- Lives in the ash grove (English,American). Cortney- Lives in the court (English,American). Kristen- Follwer of Christ (American,English,Latin), The antointed (Greek). Samantha- Listener (Hebrew,American), Listen; name of God (Aramic).
i know its not on your list but mollie/molly is a nice name you know.... hmm wonder why i think that  also kelly reminds me of that yt vid of shoes. lol. where the guy dresses as a girl and is shopping for shoes. 'oh my god shoes, these shoes rule, these shoes suck, these shoes rule these shoes suck'. maybe think of your surname too. try to see if it fits best for you. for example if your surname begins with c and you want to be called cortney your initials would be cc. thats fine, but its just something to think about you know.
Thank you so much for looking those Meanings up you are so sweet! I love my EC family (*hug*) ---------- Post added 15th Apr 2013 at 02:41 PM ---------- Is your name mollie/Molly? Lol and my last name begins w a P
No real reason - I just like the sound and feel of it. If I have a little girl I'm definitely going to consider naming her Alden. My Aunt named my cousin Arlie and I thought it was a really cool name so it just stuck with me. I do like Alden better though
Ashley, Kylie, and Kelly are what I'm leaning towards for first names, thank you to everyone who has added their imput now to the last three choices ugh haha
