Beautiful! It's little things like this that signify the great changes we are seeing in social thinking. And yet, it is all so casual.
That casual attitude is how it *should* be. The only people making it a big deal are those who oppose it, so this is awesome.
I now wonder how the far right conservatives feel about buying OS software. Both Microsoft and Apple have supported gay rights. Of course, there is always Linux, but the conservatives probably view Free software as a commie plot. ---------- Post added 13th Mar 2013 at 05:18 PM ---------- And yes, I like the Microsoft ad.
Apple did something like this? Anyway, more respect for Microsoft now, even though A- I already love their products* B- Probably to get more customers *Windows 8 is the death of the world
This is exactly the kind of image the media needs to show. Unfortunately, a lot of gay-friendly media right now shows the concept in a purely sexual light, like two guys acting suggestively in speedo's. I mean, their hearts are in the right place, but what we need to show the world is that being gay is not a sexual fetish of some sort. It's a complete lifestyle. Gay people can be happy, monogamous, "normal" in every other respect, couples, like those two women in the ad. Sure, there are promiscuous gay people, but come on, heterosexual people are just as often promiscuous. It has nothing to do with the sexuality.
This is amazing. More companies need to realize that the GLBT community has a lot of DINKS (dual income, no kids). They'd be smart to court us as a commercial demographic. We have all the disposable monies.
I don't know if Apple has done any ads, but they have supported various gay rights campaigns, including one trying to overturn Proposition 8 in California.
exactly. don't call attention to it like it's a sore thumb and casually pass the attitude on! it'll sink in everybody eventually
That is indeed a very important point. Not only do DINKs have money but they also have time. Having kids is a tremendous investment of time (I know, I have three), what are gay couples doing with their free time? It may shock many to hear this, but most significant advances in science and technology (Lavoisier in chemistry, for example) were made by dedicated amateur scientists who were also aristocrats with the time, interest and means to advance knowledge (it was Lavoisier's misfortune to lose his head because he was an aristocrat during the period of La Terreur following the French revolution). Other such aristrocrats are Sir George Cayley, who made pioneering advances in aeronautics, or Sir Frederick William Herschel, British astronomer. I'd love to know what contributions LGBT persons, i.e. those who fit into the category of DINKs, are making today to our science, our business and our culture because they have the time, means and interest for pursuits other than raising kids.
